Thinking about fronting? read this first....

I only read the first page of that thread, but ouch, ouch and ouch. I bet he was fronting too, but I doubt the insurance company can prove it, assuming it hasn't already been resolved, I bet he would win in a court case against them, if it came to that.

From reading the full thread it looks very much like a fronted policy. Dad's got another car and he keeps refering to it as his car.

would have thought the OP could have got away with it by saying either the car is a gift to his father and that's why it's in his name, or the father could say the son is paying because he wants his son to get some credit rating.

If he threatens to take the case to the Financial Services Ombudsman, I have no doubt the insurance company would crumble.

If I could find insurance for that cost then I wouldn't front.

Congratulations on being an un-insured driver.

My mate fronted on his eleventy billion years old 1.0l VW Polo at 18 to 'get a cheap quote'. I insured my Saxo VTR in my name under my policy at 18, but added my parents on as named drivers as that reduces the cost.

Congratulations. By fronting, you effectively don't have insurance, as shown in the above linked thread.

Moron.

But I could legally drive the car, ie not be pulled over for not having insurance. How would the insurers know who the actual main driver was anyway?

Also why call me a moron?

@ Westyfield2, sorry I didn't say I haven't actually got insurance yet, I'm just saying when I do. I'm happy for suggestions for ways to reduce the cost though.
