Thinking about fronting? read this first....

I just don't appreciate being lumped in with all the chavs and idiots that frequent the roads where I live.

I don't drive everywhere bouncing off the limiter, showing off my crappy Nova with an exhaust, or crashing into anything that dares get in my way.

It's not just that though, it's also stuff like general experience that may lead to an entirely innocent accident, say misjudging someones intentions on a roundabout and pulling out in front of them or something. The sort of thing you're more likely to misjudge in your first year of solo driving, even if that's when you're 17 or 27. Random example but the point being it's not entirely down to young person = chav = 100mph = crash. That's why new driver insurance is always fairly expensive even if you're older.

how do insurance companys manage to prove that you use the car more than your parent

seems to me like it would be pretty hard for them to do. still got my own policy mind

the guy was probably fronting but surely its up for the insurance company to proof it ? which seems pretty hard to me ? unless its in his terms and conditions that the main driver must be the one who financed it ? in which case hes a fool

If it goes to court it is only balance of probabilities, it is fairly easy to gather evidence on that basis.

It's really not. When I insured the Leon I had 1 year's experience and 0NCB and it was under £1K even with a 23 yo as a named driver.

Compare that to the fact that when I was 17, running quotes with my Mum as named driver was throwing stuff up around three times that.

At the end of the day, if you're under 21 you get lumped into the "crap and irresponsible" driver group.

No, you get lumped into the 'statistically likely to crash' group...
