So I'm thinking of getting a new pc atm mines in a dilapidated old xaser 3 case and makes more noise than a jumbo jet and is getting old it's self.

thinking of selling parts and buying a new one that's quiet :p

current spec is

q6600 g0
Asus P5Q Pro
8gb of some corsair ddr2 ram (not sure what exactly, not sure it's worth selling)
4870x2 (gainwood golden sample)
Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103UJ) (probbaly keep for the new one, just format it.
no dvd drive (i accidentally snapped the tray off with my foot when i left it open >.<
Edimax EW-7728IN nMax 300Mbps Wireless Desktop PCI Network Adapter
Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 850W ATX2.2 Modular SLi Compliant Power Supply

monitor is a 24" benq one i bought when i first signed up here so is a little bit past it and has some weird burn in on it in places (will probbaly keep this to replace the 15" dell crt i use as a second monitor). So would like a new monitor too.

So I'm thinking of water cooling partly for the fun of it partly for the looks and lotsly for the silence :p

Not looking for a massive top end beast, but enough to keep be happy with good fps on most modern games at good settings and able to run videos on the second screen while i do other stuff like game :p

Ideally a system with no fans at all would be best, and although i think the WC loop inside would look awesome if it gets me a much quieter case i'd be willing to forgo a window.

when it coems to the WC i'd rather have a massive radiator and no fans (or so slow they're silent) than smaller ones and lots of fans

Don't mind having to mod the case to mount external rads (such as those huge square ones or those vertical passive tube things).

So err yeah i know it's not much to go on, and as for budget, I'm kinda flexible depending on spec/quietness.

also what you think the mobo, cpu and gpu would sell for in the MM?

You've been here long enough to know that price checks are only allowed in the MM!!!

• Is the HDD a SATA version?

What do you want to keep? replace etc?

are they?

tbh stulid i think i only have about 50 posts outside the "life" and gaming forums.

I'll cut it out and you can have these two posts deleted if you like.

yes hdd is sata.

Whats the PC used for?

Do you have a OS? which one?

updated op with hdd make/model (looked up ocuk order history)

it's mostly used for this

So skyrim, bc2 bit of bf3 etc. but normally i have videos playing on the second monitor at the same time. guessing that puts a bit more strain on, especially if it's going to be two 24" monitors now instead of just one + a crt.

other than that movies and browsing.

os i have is windows 7 home retail.

Keeping the 4870X2, Bequiet PSU?

would rather sell the gfx card tbh got a huge air cooler on it, and not sure if it's a reference board udnerneath plus it seems to be struggling of late.

psu i don't know if it needs upgrading to support new build then sure if it doesn't then i'll keep it.

Are SSd's really worth the cost, is there a very noticeable performance boost?

Also how quiet is that DVD drive? my last one was noisy as hell.

SSD's are nice, make fines more responsive, snappy to use.

The last Sony DVD drive I have experience with was a Sony AD-5260S-0B and it was about normal, I have a Samsung in the PC next to me and thats a bit annoying.
