Thinking of building my own bicycle

I'm thinking of building my own bicycle as a long term project (i.e. gradually buy the parts when I see something I like).

As it's my very first time building a bicycle, can you give me any advice and websites/forums I can visit.

I'm thinking of starting off the build with a Fury '09 frame, is this a good starting point?

Nope, the frame from the Carrera Fury '09. As far as I know they're available for about £130-150?

What is your overall budget and intended use for the bike?

Roughly £500, but I won't be buying all the various parts in one go, so will probably end up spending more than that.

On and off road mountain biking.

Looking to build something along the lines of the Carrera Fury, but obviously custom.

You will not be able to custom build the Fury up to the same spec as the complete bike off the shelf for less than £550.

My advice would be to buy the complete bike and if you want to change the fork then sell it for something else.

Yup, Unless you want something at the high end it is usually cheaper to buy a ready made bike.
