Firstly, about hoping pass my driving test in a couple month's time, so I think it's time I considered what car to get myself once I have passed!

I have a small budget, looking spend no more than £1,500. Looking for a cheap run about basically, which will be cheap on insurance and fuel consumption. I think petrol is the better option for me, because I won't be doing long journeys - mostly in town.

Nissan Micras and Ford Fiestas look reasonable, and within my budget. But which is most reliable and cheapest to fix when it comes to repairs?

Or am I just asking for too much. :D

Have you thought of Puntos, just had a look on AT and blimey you can get a 54 plate 1.2 with 60k for £1500, my wife had one for 5 years older, but really no bother, cheap cars are never going to tick all the boxes

All my friends who have had Fiats as first cars bought on a budget have had no end of problems. However, most were older than 54 plate.

I had a W reg Punto as my first car and no isses taking it from 7 years old to 9 years old.

Infact my parents had got the car brand new and apart from servicing and tyres the car didn't cost us a penny.

Insurance was only £700-£800 at 17 as well.
