I find hand polishing really knackaring and basically a waste of time if I'm trying to cut scratches out of the paint so I'm looking at getting something called an Ultimate Detailing Machine which is basically a European PortaCable.

Now I understand that orbital polishers are safer than rotary ones as you are less likely to break through the clearcoat, my question is how effective are they and is as much effort required as hand polishing? Also can you use a machine polisher to just polish a car and not cut the clearcoat?

Thanks.

UK UDM wont be out untill the tail end of the year, they are still doing work to get it CE marked.

Depending on pad and polish combo, you have as much or little cut you want.

Very effective and the European one has received good preliminary reviews in comparison to the PC not least for the fact you don't need to the power convertor.

The cutting products & pads you use will dictate if you cut the clearcoat or not.

A lot of detai....sorry....valeters, no, no, I was right, detailers, use them over rotaries.

.

Actually a lot of guys over on DW claim the UDM isnt much better than the PC.

if you have a bmw/audi/vw a pc isnt gonna cut it no matter what you use unless you have the patience of a saint.
