Thinking of getting Samsung Jet

I have the Samsung Jet on sim free so if you have any questions, just shoot.

My opinion of it is it is a pretty boring phone. You may already know it's not a smartphone so theres pretty much nothing to do on it. Limited apps/widgets...

Internet browsing on the phone is not the nicest experience, slow (even on wi-fi) and zooming and panning is laggy and not smooth (despite the 800Mhz processor). Maybe it's to do with the phone's firmware and it may be fixed in the near future...

MP3 player is very basic, it plays mp3s fine and the sound quality is acceptable. Browsing albums via album art is a painful process, again, despite the 800Mhz processor it is VERY laggy.

Video playback is no better, if you try playing a video file with 800x480 res, it will struggle. Plus the screen is too small to be watching any lengthy videos.

Now for some positives. The AMOLED 800x480 IS beautiful! Compared to my iPhone 3GS, the iPhone looks dull with less vivid colours.
Another positive is the TrackID feature is nearly twice as fast as shazam on my 3GS.
The camera is quite good with good lighting conditions but in low light it performs poor even with the dual LED flash.
Call quality is better than the iPhone and has better reception.
Finally, the form factor of the phone feels much nicer in the hand compared to the iPhone.

My advice is, if you are not looking for a smartphone buy the SE W995. It has good camera, good mp3 player and looks nice.
If you want a smartphone get the iPhone 3GS. If that is out of your price range, you can get pretty decent deals for the HTC Hero on the internet.

What about the Omnia HD instead? im torn between the Jet and that, its more expensive but Jet does sound little boring.

Again the Omnia HD AMOLED is brilliant but I'm not a fan symbian. I would only get that phone if I watched a lot of videos on my phone or if I shoot lots of videos. The video camera on that phone shoots HD (720p) and is by far the best quality on a phone right now.

If I had to choose between the Omnia HD vs Jet, hands down the HD!

At the end of the day, you need to think what you want to do with your phone.
If all you want to do is text/make calls, watch the occasional video, listen to music, check your email/browse the internet once in a while then the Jet will be suffice.

If you need exchange support, push email and want apps for your phone, then a smartphone is a must.

Thanks mate
