I currently use a single dell 27" monitor at 1900x1200.
I use a gtx 690.

I was thinking of going to a 3 monitor 2d surround system.

Can I do it on a single 690?

will it be a loss going for 3 24" asus 1080 monitors? ( the ones on offer on here)

thanks in advance for your opinions

A single 690 would not be a fantastic idea for a three screen setup no, I think you will be turning down settings to a point that would negate wny benefit from the added real estate

I run 3 24" 1080 in surround on a 2gb 770, I can run most games with a mixture of high/ultra settings and still get 60+fps, so I think you'll be fine.

The 690 is the same as my 670 in SLI. I run 3 x1080p without issue. The only thing bugging me is I can only run bf4 at medium, pretty much a solid 60fps. But going to high brings in AA, which I can't run at all without hitting the 2GB memory mark and turning my game into a slide show!

I can do high without AA though.

The issue with the 690 is the memory bandwidth as well as quantity of memory (VRAM), essentially they are crippled by the 2GB and small 256 bit memory interface.

The higher the resolution, the more memory bandwidth is used, and games are already pushing the memory bandwidth of them at 1920x1080, so going triple monitors with 1920x1200 displays isn't going to be fun.

There will be plenty of games you can play no problem, older ones of course, but more recent ones are going to chug quite badly.

Is anybody running 3 screens (24" or so) on a R9 290 by any chance?

Just wondering how this card would perform at running 3 screens playing the likes of BF4, Assetto Corsa and so on ...

Very interested to hear this also. I have a 290 (non X) and am looking at going for a triple setup.
