Thinking of moving to Warrington, but which are good and bad area's?

Another vote for Lymm. I've got family that live in the village and its a lovely little place and some decent pubs and the likes.

Try Winwick, nice area just bordering between the north of Warrington and the countryside. Amazing transport links as it is 2mins from the m6 and m62, possible to get to Manchester/Liverpool/Bolton within 15 minutes. Stoke on Trent is about 35 mins and similarly Preston to the north. You will find houses from your budget to 1.5 mil.

Don't buy in Orford whatever you do!

Give Orford, Longford, Penketh, Sankey a miss. I grew up in Appleton/Stretton (mum and sister still live in a couple of detached houses just up from the Cat & Lion!), lovely area but doubt you would get anything there for your budget. Stockton Heath you might just about get a terrace as you get closer to Latchford, which is another choice. Lymm and Grappenhall are also nice areas but again, i think they are out of your price range.

Personally I think Cheshire is a bit overrated. Ormskirk and most surrounding villages in Lancs are decent areas imo, as is Formby and Southport (Merseyside) - avoid Skem (Skelmersdale), Leyland and any of the big towns though.
