Thinking of swapping my HTC Desire for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc.....

St0rmer66 - looks to be exactly what happened with me and I'm not having much luck with them either!!

I spoke to mobiles.co.uk yesterday and at first they tried to palm me off with the xperia ray (3.3" screen so no good for me as I wanted the bigger screen!) and then I told them the only other handset I would consider was the Galaxy S2 but I wasnt willing to pay the £150 upfront cost for the handset (even though there is no 6 months free by redemption on the S2 which would have meant I'd end up paying £360 over the 12 months as opposed to the £180 for the Arc!!).... and they said the best that could do would be to reduce the cost by 2 weeks line rental (ie. £15!?!?!) so I told them to stick it!

Sooooo frustrating because I already have the handset - all I want is a new SIM with my old number correctly ported onto it!!! but they tell me there is no way for me to keep the handset and they just sort the SIM mess out! (seems a bit stupid as surely they will just end up with a 2nd hand handset that they will then only be able to sell as "refurbished"!?!?!)

Anyway, she then went away and spoke to their stock department and came back and said the Arc wasnt end of line and they would be getting some in within the next 2 weeks but she had to refer to her manager to see if I could "still get the same deal" so shes ringing me back this morning!

If the answer is anything other than yes then I will be complaining like crazy!!!!

As much as I've been messed around though, I cant help but think its at least partly Talkmobiles fault as they do have my PAC code!?!?!

*UPDATE*

Not looking good, having been promised a call this morning with a decision, I call mobiles.co.uk to get an automated message saying they are closed specifically for today for some reason!?!?
Trouble is, my 14 day period to send the phone back expires today!!!!

Still no call this morning from Mobiles.co.uk so I ended up ringing them - spoke to the same girl and she has confirmed that they will honour the original deal and has arranged for me to return my handset and SIM!

Apparently they should be getting the Arc back in stock "within the next 2 weeks" and she will ring me then to set up the new contract and (hopefully) do the number porting correctly this time!!!!

Lost a lot of confidence in them over this shambles and when I enquired about the possibility of some compensation, was told no!?!?!

I'll have to decide whether to take the deal when (if) the handset comes into stock!

My money is on one (or all) of the following happening:

1) They take a direct debit payment for the period I've had this phone, even though I've been told no charges will be made, and I'll have to spend ages sorting it out!

2) I dont get a call in a fortnight and all notes of them offering me this deal have been mysteriously lost! (which is why I've asked for e-mail confirmation!)

3) The Quidco £30 wont track because the contract was cancelled! (will mention this if I do end up taking the new deal in a couple of weeks!)

4) The cashback claim will go pear-shaped because of the mix up!

If it wasnt such a good deal and I didnt like the handset so much, I'd simply kick it into touch and use someone else!

You've done OK there methinks! (apart from not keeping your number which was never a possibility for me!)

I'm all packed up and ready for them to collect the phone on Friday and hopefully will get a call in a week or so to re-order!

Definitely gonna push for a £30 cheque, if only to cover the £30 Quidco cashback that's inevitably gonna be rejected! - Luckily I've also spoken to TM and they have agreed to cover my first months bill when I eventually get set up with them! :D

.....unless a better deal presents itself in the meantime! :p
