Thinking of swapping......need help and advice!!

If it's between the LCR or 182 Trophy, I'd go for the Trophy.

Been in both, the 182 seems so much more chuckable. Absolutely amazing amounts of grip too!!!

Not saying the LCR is a rubbish car, but the 182 is more of a toy than the LCR.

Not sure if I will be getting a trophy. Probably a 182 cup, really depends on what I can get for what price to be honest!

If between the LCR and the Trophy and I wanted to use it day to day, with the potential of driving distance in it, I'd get the LCR, as the Trophy IMO isn't a daily (distance) driver at all, and certainly sucks balls at motorway.

If I wanted a toy, I'd get an elise.

I would 100% agree with this. My 172 was great, but on long journeys cramped and as a daily drive hard going as you felt every pot hole and bump. Fun factor was imense though and I never got bored of it.

lukechad, the trophy is not a comfy everyday drive and you would soon get bored of its setup and ride (probably)

Your astra is a far cry from a 172/182 but it does have a much more spacious driving position.

I would consider an LCR as well.

Can I get a good example of a LCR for about 8k though? I know what you mean about getting bored with a rough ride but then again I see my next car as being the last before I possibly settle down with the gf and start house hunting! So I just wanted something a bit out there until I have a mortgage to think about :)

Yeah, you can get a good one for around £8k these days, and it is a car that will last you so long as you look after it :)

My trophy is fine on the motorway.

70 / 80 MPH and it dosent make a lot of noise at all and the ride / seats are lush. The ride on the trophy is a lot less crashy than the previous 182 / 172s due to a longer rod. Compared to my racing puma it feels pure luxury :p

To be fair Sam, you evidently don't have much to compare it to, having done a 200 mile stint in a Trophy, mostly being motorway, I'd never willingly want to do it again.

It was superb on the B roads, utterly sublime, but on the motorway it was vile! But its not designed for motorway slogs.

tbh a Leon isn't much better on the Motorway, feels like a cheap bottom of the range company car becuase on the Motorway the 225bhp engine, Brembo brakes and awesome handling don't come into play so it becomes just... a Seat Leon.

With no cruise.

Oh I agree, its no motorway muncher, but its a LOT better than a Trophy.

Besides, not all of them don't have cruise ;)

Your best bet would probably be a 2002-2003 Type R (make sure you get aircon, very desirable in these)!.

It doesnt seem to be hit to bad, even in the current shaky financial market. Even in a couple of years, you won't lose much at all on it.

Currently looking around at them myself for the other half..

Just put my 04 CTR up for sale!! looking at 9k, won't say much more as I'm not sure about the advertising rules on this forum! Great cars, I'll be gutted when mine goes but I need money for a house deposit!

Not commenting on you personally so chill out, but jesus that excuse is as played out as a played out mofo.

Why do 90% of people state this in their adverts?

WE KNOW YOU'RE LYING!!!!!

I must be in the 10% then. If I didn't need the cash for a deposit I wouldn't sell simple as.
