Thinking of switching to intel would it be worth it ?

Some good advice in there but it is a bit long.

Easiest way would be to set a manual voltage of 1.45 and then simply up the multiplier bit by bit. Play a few games, run prime95 to make sure it's stable and if so, increase it further.

Eventually you'll get to a point where the system freezes or crashes. Drop down the multi a tad and thats basically it.

If you want to delve into it further you can start messing with FSBxMulti overclocking which offers better performance but is a bit hit and miss getting the right settings.

Thanks, Ill try the first option and see how it goes,

also what would be the best graphics card to get at the moment the best bang for the buck, my budget should be around the £180 I may also consider used if I can get warranty with it

Hi
It's not worth the change.
i changed about a month ago from fx8350 to 4770k
and no change in gaming here.
only change i could see/notice is in benchmarking but thats all.
save your cash

Without telling us the set up, this is pretty meaningless.

You could be talking about at 2560x1600 with an R9 280X or something, which wouldn't see any difference, even at 1920x1080 there wouldn't be massive changes except for a few exceptions.

+1

I wager that i'd notice a decent increase in performance going to an overclocked 4770k now if I combined it with a single 7990, let alone two of them.

My frame rates are acceptable but I still get FPS drops. Whether mantle will cure this who knows, I pray it does.

Although the 8320 is a good multi-threading CPU, the 4770k is a much faster overall package

Never realized you're running 2 7990's with an FX8320!.

I hope that's not 1080p, or that's quite a bottleneck :P

With the equipment in your sig, I couldn't help myself changing.
Move the i3 into one of those H81 boards with multiple PCI-E Slots, and then put the Gigabyte Z87 with the 7990 X2 rig, off the FX8320 and board and then get an i7 4770k :p

yes you are correct
fair enough

Ok, Im going to give it a go, is cinebench ok to stress,

I thought I would start at 1.44v it looks like most people have it at this, should i up the voltage any further then 1.45v, some tutorials are saying to start at 1.5 and work down.

Cinebench isn't great for long term stability.

I'm one of the hardcore, where I don't want my machine to fail at all, and thus far it hasn't, be that encoding for hours, or gaming for hours :p

Thanks I've downloaded prime95, What temp should I aim for ?
soon as I overclock my jumps from 35 to 85

Something must be wrong there.

I'm on a full water loop and my load temps at 4.8GHz, even at 1.5v, never go that high

I'm not sure what could be be wrong here,
does it matter which connector the pump is connected or does it need to be the cpu connector?

ok ive reduced the clock to 4ghz and change the volt to 1.44v i was gettinf 43o at windows loading, lunched prime95 and temps have gone upto 65o

OK, im going to start from the default to see how high I can get the clock and then, alter the volt to go higher.
