Thinking of upgrading my 595's to......

Ouch, headphone prices are getting ridiculous! HD595s were £80 when I bought them a few years ago. Now they are £140!

Second hand is often a good way to go. Great deals to be had from those with a dose of upgraditis.

Does anybody know of a good place to get the HD650 ?

Was going to get it from a very big online store but they've bumped it from 265 to 285 :(

try doing a google for sennheiser hd650 price ..i did find it for £265 , but not a from a website i know :(

you could switch to the hd600 ... which i have and imo are also well worth the cash

HD650 aren't always seen as an improvement over the HD600. They have pretty much the same sound signature, except that the HD650 have a slight emphasis on bass, making it sound more musical, where as the HD600 have a more balanced bass response with a brighter top end.

I preferred my HD 580s to HD 600s, and found the 650s to be better still. The HD 600s were a bit brighter, which wasn't what I wanted. I think I only used mine for about 10 hours before confining them to the attic. Sold them a while ago too. Don't get me wrong though - the 600s are still brilliant. I found Beyer DT880 Premiums were quite good too. I came to the conclusion that f I'd never heard the 'better' Senns that I'd have probably preferred them. They are a cross between K701s and HD 580/600/650. They're also the best built headphones I've ever owned.

@ Speedy Pete - would you consider buying used? I bought my 650s for £170 about 18 months back from a guy on headfi. They had barely been used and were immaculate. I'm not selling mine, I just don't think there's much point in spending an extra 100 quid if there are good used ones out there. You may also consider picking up a bargain pair of 580s first, as they are very similar to 650s, if lacking some top end detail. I'd say they're 9/10ths the 650s. It'd be a good move in order to find whether you like the sound signature of those 3 cans (580/600/650) before spending the big money on 650s.

Ok ive had a search around for some op-amps for the Essence.

And gawd dam its a minefield!

LME49860 or LME49990 ?

I think my main problem is which version of them do i go for?

Theres a LME???MA or LME???NA or LME????MAX, anyone know the differences? XD

No idea, but I've been looking into it too. Although, I rarely use my Essence with headphones, I mainly use speakers. I imagine there is far more benefit in replacing the op amps for the headphone out, rather than the line out.

Well if anyone wants to know... the NA is the one to get as the MA needs an adaptor not sure what the MAX is about though.

Im just about to get the LME49860NA, cant seem to find a LME49990NA only the MA and MAX
