Currently have the following spec PC and game @ 1440P

I only want to game on this machine

AMD Ryzen 2600
AMD vega 64 strix
TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING (SOCKET AM4) DDR4 MATX MOTHERBOARD
Dell S2719DGF 27 Inch TN monitor

I've kept with AMD because of the monitor and freesync. But the graphics card is quite noisy and feel I need to upgrade the GPU. Not sure a 5700 XT is worth the outlay

So thinking Nvidia but is there going to be a new card soon and if i bought a RTX 2080 Super would I need a different monitor and is that enough for 4K native at high FPS ?

I see lots of people still using 1440P rather than 4K

A 5700 XT isn't that much of an upgrade from a V64. You might not find the upgrade to anything less than a 2080S that noticable, actually. And a 2080S is more than enough for 4K, especially on older games. Which games do you play?

If you go 4K, the monitor you want is the Acer Nitro 4k.

I play various games

Fortnite
Apex
BF5
COD
Wreckfest

Just think if I buy a new GPU would a 2070 or 2080 be overkill with 1440P and work with the current monitor. How do you know if a Nvidia GPU would work with a dell monitor

The monitor is gsync compatible. No worries.
Few moons ago upgraded from a HD7970, now with a RTX 2080. As the next gen is almost there, worth waiting just a bit more if going Nvidia. Or at least Black Friday.

What are people doing with RTX2080ti cards, 4K or 1440P ?
