i was thinking of water cooling my rig and i did not have any clue about water cooling and a new case they case a was thinking of is an antec 1200 or a Corsair Obsidian 800D what would i need for this? and which case would be best??

Read through the water cooling gallery.

Think about this for a bit, the difficult part is working out where to put radiators and how many/what size you need. You haven't told us what you want to cool, what the budget is, or why. So we cannot help.

Though I will say that the antec 1200 would be a daft choice.

a budget of around 4-£500 the whole rig water cooled maybe not the GPUs and or why??? to cool me pc

Budget is sufficient, possibly excessive. So that much is good.

"To cool me pc" is not specific enough. Do you want quieter running, lower temperatures, a challenge, all three? Is the objective overclocking further, in which case are you really at the limits of air already?

Cooling the pc is normally a means to an end, it would be helpful to know what that end is.

I'm afraid I'm going to ask you to demonstrate that you've done some research into this yourself or I'm not going to bother listing components, it just won't work if you don't put any effort in. So, what can you tell us about watercooling so far?

In fairness to you the OP was not spec me, but which case would be best. The corsair is the better of the two but hardly ideal. The TJ07 is about as close to perfection as any watercooling case has got so far.

sorry i sould have been more specific i would like colder running so i can overclock as far as i can and i i think it looks cool like the icing on the cake :)
also having a look at the TJ07 and i like the look of it

colder running shouldnt be a problem, also at quiet settings (fans as low as they can go)will still be a match for top end Air while over clocked.
get a T07 stick a quad RAD in the bottom no modding required!! the only thing you will have to worry about is the repositioning of HDs.
you havent said what you want to W/C so im assuming just a CPU and single GPU a decent quad RAD would handle this no problems.

The new Corsair Obsidian 800D has plenty room from what others who have it have said. So you should have no problem should you choose that case for watercooling. I have watercooling in my Antec 1200 and you can check the two links in my sig for more info. :D

Why ? What CPU are you trying to cool ?

I'm going back to AIR on my main quad Q9650@4GHz.

I've spent £100's over the years water cooling my rigs, but the temperature difference on my quad is only 3-4 degrees C between my custom water rig and this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-000-PL&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

So is water cooling worth all the extra hassle and expense ?
.

Water cooling CPU Only is waste of money, but If you gonna cool GPU and CPU it is the best option.I'll never back to AC again.

Lets be more objective shall we?

If your custom water was only 3 degrees better than air, you did it too cheaply or just wrong.

The corsair looks pretty but I disagree with the idea that it's perfect for water cooling, esp. considering the TJ07.

Watercooling the cpu only is not a waste of money if it is what you want to do. Or if you want to clock the cpu higher. Or if you don't care about graphics cards all that much. Or you can't fit enough radiators for the gpus as well. Writing it off as always a waste is daft.

watercooling required two things

1. Time - spent reading peoples logs and choosing the right parts for yourself
2. Time - spent putting it together properly after you have gained this knowledge

Cooling only a cpu is not a waste, like others have said allows for higher clocks. That and if your not certain about doing a full loop, its easier to learn bit by bit.

That and not everyone has red hot GFX's or mobos that need watercooling.

I admit I could get more from the watercooling by adding more fans to the radiator. At the moment it has NONE, it is completely passive so adds ZERO noise to the system. It did come out of a VW Golf, and it is HUGE so it works brilliantly as a passive cooler.

Obviously to get the very best out of it, I could add 24 120mm fans to one side, or 48 fans for push pull, but the noise from that lot would be just a bit unbearable.

There are limits, and you have to just stop at some point and say "Is it really worth it ?".

I have decided that it isn't, not anymore, but each to their own.

Ah, but how does the passive water compare to the TRUE without a fan? Not really a fair comparison here.

rjkoneill, you somehow forgot number 3/ Money
edit: otherwise bang on. Time spent messing around with it is optional after all
