Thirteen years...Crikey

i was 13 my afterschool activities mostly included hedgehopping and hanging around in the park (wich was nextdoor to my house)

I'm a nobody here but, for what it's worth:

I was 25 and messing about with my best mate's girlfriend. She's sitting next to me right now.

Thirteen years ago I would have been 16 and in Royal Navy basic training, down at H.M.S Raleigh in Cornwall

At this time we would've been doing either drill or P.T

I would have been 4 :D

So doing hand print pictures at playschool, whilst preparing to be Mary in the nativity play... good times :p

I was almost 13, so probably firing off knuckle babies.

Or probably getting done for skiving, shoplifting, smoking behind the bike sheds, etc.

I'd have been 21, 2 years into working for my current employer, at the height of my competetive paintball playing career, would have just bought my first motorbike and having small LAN parties with my friends - Doom, DOS, IPX, thin ethernet, t-pieces, terminators. :)

13 years ago I'd been online and decided it was pointless because it was mainly people speaking about how cool it was to be online. I wasn't interested in PCs until I needed to be for work. Other than that I was smoking hash and trying to break my cherry.

I was probably sat there waiting 5 minutes a time for the few pages that were on t'internet to load up. Bizzarely, we had t'internet from Barclays iirc and there were about 3 pages and none of them started with http:// :p

I preferred using Macs at that point I think (with the floppy drive) cos it was better for graphics for my school work. Was a huge difference then because Macs had a gui while the PC used DOS. This was before we had windows.

I still prefer Macs tbh,but I do have both Mac & PC.

Other than that I was sat typing in 'Go North' to which the character would reply 'I do not know how to Go North'. To which I would say '**** off then'.
Character would reply 'I do not know how to **** off then'.

Also I remember having to install things like Windows from around 100 floppies then backing up my work on HOOOOOOGE really floppy discs :D

Thank God things got better!! :D

Thirteen years ago I would have just turned into a teenager at 13 years old. I'd have been out causing mischief with my catapult, trying cigarettes but not inhaling the smoke, playing on my Sega Megadrive and locking myself in the bathroom for hours on end :o

Not necessarily at the same time.

13 years ago I was 18  At this time of year I was packing my stuff up to move out of my parents for the second time.

Gawd, 13 years ago.
Hmmm, working at the uni. using kermit to download stuff from HENSA.
Using Gopher and Veronica(sp) for finding information, then some one showed this marvelous thing on the Xterms, Mosiac as well as being introduced to Irc and cant forget Monochrome bbs.
Can still remember running Netscape 0.91 on WfW3.11

I was 40 and putting myself through University a second time reading Software Engineering. Struggling to pay all fees and living expenses while still studying. The horrors of early Windows versions. Was worth it eventually though.

I'd have been 33, I had a second child on the way and I'd been living in Teesside for a year.
