This "emo" thing.

I thought the Emo thing was ok about 18months ago but it has gone totally mainstream amoungst younger teenagers. You see thirteen year olds out shopping with their mum wearing Bullet for my valentine T-Shirts and black zip up hoodies and so it now makes the 18 year old Emo's look a bit stupid and childish.

Maybe an Emo's backpack is like a security blanket, he has to go everywhere with it?

Emo is old hat now....move on, but Ithey are still 100 times more prefrable to Chav's and the sportswear meathead brigade.

So, with the hatred of chavs and emos, how are people allowed to dress according to OcUK?

Lies.

Spliffy jeans and NAF NAF jackets :D
Hehe. And Dready, don't forget Dready . I had a Dready record bag, which made me quite the dude. Especially considering it was a fake knockoff from Wembley market. Went well with my black NAFNAF bomber jacket.

Oh, heady days :D.

Its pathetic. The bands they listen to suck and so do the clothes they wear. They are making our country look like a disgrace, we live in Britain damn it! This emo culture should be banished, I am at uni in Glasgow and I walk down the town, unbelievbably there is more emo's than neds (chavs). We should ban this sort of thing now before its too late, some of the things I have seen people wearing is awful and is probably a cime for mental abuse.

Ban it now, so in the future they wont look back at themselves and think of failure!

Some Emo bands aren't crap, I apreciate all styles of music if it is good and some of the proper EMO stuff is great, but you probably won't have heard it. I would say most of the bands that have got popular in the last year or so and are in the charts are pretty poor and it has all just gone so mainstream.

Like most cool things Emo has been hijaked and toally sold out. All these teenage girls wont have a clue about the roots of EMO music and have just jumped on a craze.

As far as being a disgrace and us living in Briatin....well we invented punk so it kind of comes back to us.

Ban it why though? They don't cause any trouble, like chavs do. They aren't threatening like chavs are. So they dress differently, big deal. It's not offending anyone like chavs or any other social group does??

I can think of a few: Thrice, At the drive in, Bright eyes, Fugazi. I suppose you can say the great Converge drew some influence from Emo music. So you have to give Emo music some credit. Not like any of these people care.

I agree with what people have said about the Emo's being preferable to Chav's, at least the majority dont cause trouble or make you feel threatened.

Who would you prefer to walk past down a dark alley, an Emo or a Chav...

Sorry for starting this thread by the way, was a bit of drunken moaning! :p

I go to emo night at the local discotheque because I like the music. :p

I also go to the normal nights on Fridays & Sats and on the girl front, emo day is better. The emo girls seem to be more classy and I prefer the way they dress tbh.

Quite a few of the girls at normal night are foul mouthed slappers that brawl outside.

I get branded an emo due to my hair and it's not emo'y at all. Just not a grade one all over.

My response is rather be an emo than a chav.

A lot of emo people I know are really nice people, but independant. They have had a harsh childhood and generally keep themselves to themselves because they have 0 confidence.

well an emo would be well hidden. with the black, but you can see the bright converse though!

a chav you could hear, and out smart by asking him his name

I was at a gig tonight, and man, the amount of guys with backpacks on and skinny jeans (as in, my god, can your bits breathe in that!? tightness) made me want to cry, i seriously, just dont get it... why, why why!?!?

Anyone shed any light on this strange new torture of wanting to constrict bloodflow to your legs and nads!?
