This Instant And Moment - 2026!

While out shopping, I overheard two chaps younger than myself talking about Half-Life 1 and 2 - I couldn't quite catch what they said about it, just that one asked the other if they'd played HL1.

I nearly piped up and said I played HL2 the day it was released, but then realised how old that might make me sound. :o

Settle down gramps.

Crap...so did I.

Just back from seeing Project Hail Mary. Super glad they stuck to the source material.

About to drop off some homemade cookies to our local garage because we unintentionally messed them around on Friday of last week.

Not related: if you're going to take your car into the garage because your teenage daughter tells you all the TPMS lights are on and she has* checked the tyre pressure and it's "the car dad, it must be" then save everyone an awkward exchange by actually checking the tyre pressure yourself before dropping the car in.

A shambles all round but they do get cookies :)

* tyre pressures checked = none

That is exactly what Robin Day did and followed by Jeremy Paxman did also, famously asking Michael Howard the same question repeatedly. Politicians like to answer the question that they would like to be asked. Not always the question being asked and the one that elicits most information.

I suspect that you believe that she is right of centre and felt sorry for Milliband however she was equally tough when the other side was in power. I think that she is quite unbiased compared to most.
Exactly politicians like to give any answer except for the question they were asked, I remember Gordon Brown rambling on incessently about something completely unrelated to the question he was asked. Its why pitbull journalism as typified by Jeremy Paxman became prevalent to actually try and force them to answer the bloody question they were supposed to be replying to it can be irritating but I'd rather that than staying silent while they jabber on regardless.

And in the spirit of trying to keep this thread on topic, plane tickets booked for a trip to the south of spain next month. Ah some mediterranean sun beckons.

Started 2 training course so i can get some points

They have to be taken and finished by 25 march, which is next week

absolutely nothing is going to soak in with this

Day 3 of my week off - managed to clear the garage, porch and utility and somehow restock them twice as neatly. I can exercise in the garage now! Just had an excellent steak to reward myself :)

Just submitted my first assignment for my Master's... My god I had forgotten how tough academic writing is! :(
I signed up for a masters at my uni after graduating (age 30). I did the first induction week and honestly believed I'd keep up alongside my job. I dropped it as soon as the job started, no chance!

I wish I could go back, I don't think I could hack more university now :(

Yeah the balancing of being a father (and husband), full time job, sporty hobbies, is harder than I had appreciated. It's going to be very hard. So much reading, and it's not exactly page turning stuff either

To add more stress half our house is being rebuilt/redone. So we don't even have a kitchen at the moment :(

Not entirely sure what drove me to do it!
