Comes up with an error on the Intel Matrix RAID boot thingy. Annoyingly I can't boot into WD Data Lifeguard Tools to run a full check.

Backing up what I need now, but should I just RMA the drive even though I can't give WD an error code?

Why can't you get into the WD tools?

Without an error code from the diagnostics you might have problems with an RMA.

reset status of the drive to normal, then see if it comes back up after a reboot, might just be a glitch, has happened to me before altho the drives are fine

Well Vista is installed on the array and I'm using it now. Also been playing Crysis which is installed on the array for the best part of the day.

How do I go about resetting the status of the drive? Edit just figured it out.

Right, this happened a few times over the past few weeks.

Basically it would start with Vista becoming sluggish then crashing. Upon reboot varying things would happen, but the same drive always flagged up. Managed to get round it before with random ways till last night when it reset itself as a non RAID disc.

Anyway, changed it to RAID 5 and used Ghost to put my OS back on, marked it as normal and the array has been re-built and it all seems fine again (RAID 0 before).

I still can't get into WDLGT, should I call WD and see if they will replace the drive?

im probably stabbing in the dark but dont u need the drives to sequential ports? you have drives on ports 0,1,3 - isnt it supposed to work better if you have the drives in ports one after the other so use ports 0,1,2 ? just my thoughts its probably rubbish!

Well so much for the RAID 5 array, it completely fell over after a problem with the same drive yet again. Got RAID 10 on the go till I contact WD. Hopefully they'll replace it for me.

I have exactly the same problem with my WD500 AAKS 3 of them in RAID5 and occasionaly the same drive will always report itself as "Failed" yet i can mark it again as normal and carry on using the PC again - do you think i should RMA my drive too?
