Right first problem i've had in a long long time where i haven't got a clue what's going on.

I've had a working vista install for ages 12+ months.... came home a week back on one of the drives appeared to be clicking away.... tried to boot 'no boot partition found yadda yadda' e.g. drives dead.

Because it was the windows drive that was and issue i booted up into a live cd so i could image my other drives data to an external disk and start again.... no problem there.... however the windows disk was accessable too! Looking at it through drive manager it appears that there was a small unallocated space at the start of the disk..... possibly a corrupt mbr then. Tried to repair that to no avail.

I then went on to test all of the drives with WD tools they found nothing, all smart info was present and correct so i installed vista again... 2 reboots and no updates later the same error appears... boot into a live cd and there again is this missing chunk of the drive!

So i gave up.... a week later i come to start a repair on it.... and actually find out whats going on... and it boots first time with no issues! I'm posting with the machine now!

Thing is.... i don't know when it will happen again!!? Or why its been happening in the first place! Anyone else had similar problems?
