had an fx60 system slightly overclocked 200fsb>218fsb..

everything fine for 6 months then the whole pc cuts out dead while in use....

i take it apart..lay the mobo on the desk....nothing in but memory..graphics card and cpu plus heatsink....no power light on mobo....replace power supply with known working one..power light shows on mobo....when switched on graphics card and cpu fan spin for a split second then shut down..(by the way no post bleeps because dont have case speaker).....so i replace cpu with known working one..same thing..replace mobo for brand new one and same thing!!!!!! now as far a si know layed ouyt on the desk a woprking system will start with just memory and graphics cards and cpu right?...so if this was working the fans should stay spinning...i dont know what else could be the problem..

i did a build last year and put two sticks in what i thought were right slots it fans span for few secs then nothing.Rearranged the memory to correct slots and hey presto silly bugger me.Just thinking you might have a dodgy stick or something thats y id just put one in try it then another .see if it does anything.

Yeah it will spin up..just wont do anything...

It would beep...but as you have no speaker it kinda doesent help for diagnosing the problem :P

try it with no ram for a start...just to rule it out...then take the graphics card out...regardless if you have no onboard, cause if it starts without the graphics card in then thats one possible cause as to why its not posting.

It could even be the cpu sadly =/...But if you tried a new one then thats kinda odd....
Like you said earlier...Have the motherboard by itself on a desk, both of them actually, and just try each component, and psu as well. Might even be worth trying a different 13amp power cable that goes to the wall as well..And a different wall socket. Unlikely but no harm in checking. :)

Post back with your progress matey.

I know it sounds silly, but make absolutely positive it's not shorting on anything. I was in this exact situation about 3 days ago.

well....other than placing it flat on the table what else can i do?..im waiting on a case speaker before trying anything else....maybe the post beeps will help give me a clue

this probably doesnt help, but when i built my computer, instead of beeping when the memory wasnt sorted properly i could hear it through headphones if i plugged them into the mobo sound :P
