Still after seeing this, i reckon a well built custom loop is less risky than most of the AIO loops out there. How many pump failure threads have you seen on those!
 
My waterpump used to be connected to an alarm if it stopped...

(But the alarm wouldn't of been much use if I was out or sleeping..as I used to always leave my PC on to download games from steam/encode videos etc)

Looks like you got very lucky indeed! I heard of instances where compression fittings have blown off literally flooding the case and the components still surviving - just shows you how tough PC gear is really.
