this is why i hate pcs....rant.. Call of Cthulha..

Its simple both platforms have their place in gaming , consoles allow kids to just plug in and play and PC's make the enthusiasts work for the experience.

So one person has trouble getting a PC game to run !!!shocker!!! its swings and roundabouts with PC games, it might be a battle getting a game to run near perfectly but the end result is a far better experience.

Its down to the individual, I prefer games like BF2/2142 , Medieval Total War II, Grand Prix 4 & rFactor that have genuine longevity not forgetting endless modable content, which is freely available..... i'll take that over eye candy and 4hrs of dull gameplay which the majority of console games offer..

you could have made a mature and balanced post, but shocker you didn't. I swear sometimes that elitist pc users are just as immature as console fanboys.

Wow never knew one could have so many problems lol, I have like 0 problems and any problems appear I just wack in the ghost cd and within 10 mins all my problems have been solved.

I do like consoles better than PC's at the moment though, this is because consoles have a lot more better games than the PC such as GT5P, GTA IV etc... What does the PC have? Crymark07?... Ok the PC has its fair share of good games but its just so dead in PC gaming at the moment, mabe not for some people.

Well, why do console games work better than PC ones then? Could it be because a console doesn't actually do anything other than play games? Might it not have something to do with standard hardware throughout the range, instead of 1000's for different hardware configs ala PC? Could it be that the PC has various operating systems, where as an XBOX has only one? Yet I have seen the XBOX crash while playing games. The beauty of the PC is the ability to be able to use it for more than simply gaming. It also allows you to upgrade it a bit at a time, instead of binning the whole thing and buying a new one. I for one, will take a PC for gaming over console gaming any day.

Ummm, of course its because consoles are standard, where pc's consist of loads of different setups, that makes them a bit more stable. Thats stating the obvious. But thats why I will generally stick to the 360... not saying they are faultless.

I was not arguing about which was better/more stable/more capable - you were implying that user error is responsible for most of peoples issues on PC, and I was disagreeing with that.

But now you seem to have changed your argument to the sheer amount of possible PC configurations being responsible?

Well, whatever your argument, just try and accept that for many people, perhaps the prospect of gaming on a console is less hassle than a pc, and that not everyone who has had issues on pc is directly responsible for those problems. :)

What does the PC have?

How's about any FPS there is?
Free downloadable content?
Free usermade mods?
Mass Multiplayer Online games?
User defineable custom resolutions?
Games that cost £20 rather than £40?
Non-cumbersome upgrade paths?
Console games, but without the FPS drops?

As a PC gamer, I would have to say that there is one area PC gamers miss out on - and that is the true social effect.

I play WoW and some other multiplayer PC games, but the whole PC "setup" is so big (Main machine, monitor per person, desk etc) that apart from LANs, you end up playing on your own most of the time, and TeamSpeak/Vent is a poor substitute.

When I was at uni everyone, even the girls played console games, why? Because it was 4am, everyone was hammered and playing Tekken tag tournament on PS2 whilst having a laugh. The TV was visible to everyone, and later when we switched to mario kart even more people got involved.

That is the main bonus for Consoles, oh and they just work. Everything else is mediocre or can be done better on PCs :

Better graphics /scalability
Better control / control options (keyboard/mouse/controller +)
More space on hard disk means more content more complex models etc
More memory means more onscreen at the same time
Newer PCs can still play older games through emulation etc

Unfortunately, technical issues is one of the downsides, as OP has experienced...

ugh one of my hard drives is knackered but still has a lot of data i need, so it's a case of of using my other one, and occasionally going into it each time i'm on pc, to see what i can salvage before the next Io error :(

Need to get xp on one of the old hdd's I've got knocking around, to see if partition magic can fix it :(

Nice list of 8 games there...

I was talking about games, imo the consoles have more interesting games but thats my opinion.

You didn't enjoy Stalker, Portal, Episode 2, TF2, Supreme Commander, Forged Alliance, World in Conflict, Company of Heroes OF, C&C3, COD4, The Witcher, Crysis, Bioshock, Medieval 2, GOW, UT3 etc? Shame.

GTA4 isn't out yet. GTA5P is barely a third of a game. Don't get me wrong I like my 360/PS3, but haven't played the 360 in about five months now and all I've played on my PS3 since getting it is Drakes and a bit of Motorstorm.
