Yep, that's Dell for you. I can't vouch at all for Intel's Linux video drivers though, you might want to look at the Vostro as a slightly more expensive but much better value alternative.

Hello mate,

Here is one to Consider with 2GB of Ram ;)

Vostro™ 1000 NB(N1010003) (Under Small Business)

BASE AMD® Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL60
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista® Business - English
HARDWARE SUPPORT Base Warranty - 1 Year Business Hardware Support
LCD 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display
MEMORY 2048MB 533 MHz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)
HARD DRIVE 120GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
GRAPHICS CARD ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 HyperMemory (integrated)
OPTICAL DRIVE Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including Software

Another Option :)

That's what I did :). However I'd advise against the ATI graphics is you're using Linux - their drivers are flaky at best and downright useless for the rest of the time.

I had a Dell Inspiron 1501 (just sold to help build my new PC) And the hard drive was a matter of undoing 2 small screws then sliding it out. Just a 60 seconds job - easy.

Hello Mate,

Firstly Yes Home Users Can buy from Small Business.

Also Look at my spec (Based around the model with Free Del) As it has a faster CPU & More Ram....

Also Can have XP Pro with it if you prefer...

Michael

I bought a laptop for £450 came with

Intel T2050 @ 1.66Ghz
1024mb DDR2 (533mhz)
80 GB S-ATA HDD
DVD-RW
Wireless
1280x800 Screen (Widescreen)
Windows Vista

Made by a company called Advent, its a good laptop and i managed to get a free case with it as well by haggling.

I would scout highstreet stores or wait till new years deals if you can wait.
