this possible?

Basically Yes.

If they're active, feed them with multi channel line out (not sure if this is that common or not - my amp has 6 channel post-volume line out)

If they're passive, connect them normally.

You may have connector and impedance mis-matching, - the impedance will probably be on the back of each speaker and on the back of the amp. It's best if they match, but not the end of the world if they don't. (you just won't get as much power)

the speakers are Sony ones from DAV-DZ230 so at one end it's just bare cable which goes into the clips on the speakers and the other end has a connection which just plugs into the system

it's just a plan that i have for the future, so nothing as yet as the system is under a year old, but i was just wondering if it was possible then i know i can save money by using the speakers as to me they sound excellent

Well you could, but if you do decide to upgrade to a separate AV receiver and DVD player then I'd recommend an alternative speaker solution.
When the time comes I'd sell the DAVDZ230 complete with its speakers to help finance a more suitable 5.1 speaker package.
So while you could use them, I'd advise against it.
