This should be a very simple maths question...

This is off topic but as the problem is solved.....

After seeing you little picture i checked out the thread on Camoe, what happened in the end? Did everyone get a refund? Someone kick his ass? Police get involved?

Some people think they're actually smart because they solved a question a 5 year old can solve.

I actually expected everyone to know this, or at least Google it before looking stupid. That was going to be my point, a stream of identical answers and then me saying but wait, no. In a very short space of time I got frustrated and just let that damn cat way out the bag! It felt exuberating at the time.

What I couldn't work out is how I was making Excel look stupid, and in the process for showing lack of Excel skills, myself.

That said I've never required Excel powers™ at a job interview, on a first date or when trying to tame a lion, so the above statement might not be factually correct.

Have a great day (isn't that what they say in America?).

I know the answer is 225. :)

So why does Excel tell me it's 84.34.

I used the average function, highlighted the exact same sequence of numbers and hello 84.34!

What version of Excel do you use?

In 2007 & 2010 you only have to highlight the range and it'll show you the average, count and sum in the footer.

Average - 225
Count - 20
Sum - 4500
