This War of Mine

I love this game to be honest, I wish there were a few more random things and a few more random encounters but it is amazing.

Really interested in it myself.

It's supposed to be coming out on iOS soon too... I kind of see this as an excellent iPad game... which is why I've held off buying it on PC.

As usual, TotalBiscuit gives a pretty good demonstration of it in his video:

It would be perfect for a tablet, it actually kinda looks like a IOS game ported to PC in terms or interface with the icons etc.

And got to love TB!

Picked this up in the sale and been enjoying it a lot so far. I love the art style and the decisions that it allows you to make along the way.

Started playing it this evening....went scavenging on my 3rd mission to a house, got spotted and before I know it I have killed some guy called Emil with a crow bar and his wife is crying...I felt awful !

I assume there is no way to replay sections?

Any tips on how best to trade with the visitor?

Day 12
Got back from scavenging to find 2 other characters had died from starvation.
I found some food but I am broken. I'm going to sit here and do nothing no matter what the guy clicking his mouse thinks. Yeah, war sucks.

Day 13
Committed suicide.

Okay. This game is pretty deep. Love the art style and survival isn't that easy if you make a mistake.
Great game.

Loving this game, only picked it up yesterday and have put 10 hours into already :)

First few times I played it wasn't going well but doing much better now. Up to around day 11 with 3 Knives, Pistol, 2 Assault Rifles & 2 Shotguns. Also got Crowbar, Hatchet?, Saw.

I would advise to mostly avoid getting materials from scavenging and instead pickup items you can trade with (alcohol, ciggs etc. Oddly sugar seems good to trade with and electrical parts also (don't need those till later in the game)). When the trader comes round (seems like every 3 days, or at least day 3 6 and 9) just trade all those sort of things for all his materials. You can get a lot of stuff from trading 2 or 3 times. If you can upgrade the weapon workshop to level 2 and build a hatchet, you can get lots of wood and fuel from chopping up furniture in your house.

Stopping raids on your house is really important too. Remember to board up house (level 2 workshop) and have people on guard ideally with weapons. If you are playing with 4 people I tend to have 2 on guard, 1 sleeping and 1 scavenging.

I really enjoyed this. Also grabbed it in the sale and played it until I managed to beat it (took about 4 attempts). I like that there is no save and reload. If you screw up, that's it! If you have Boris at the start it makes a huge difference as you can get things up and running really quickly. He does get upset when you rob old people though. Arica plays the guitar well and I found her useful for keeping everyone from getting too depressed. Marin was my workshop/builder dude and helps a lot with big things like workshop upgrades.

Tough game and it can go any way when you start. All it takes is someone getting badly hurt in a raid to change your fate.

For those on the fence, it's a very good game, but I don't think there is much replayability once you've conquered it. Still worth a buy if you are bored of half finished games or rehashed concepts.
