I think he's made a good choice. There are good reasons to go for a GTX, but if on reflection they don't outweigh the slight price and features advantage of the X1900, then the ATI card is the best choice.

7900gtx

I purchased an xfx 7900gtx 512 this week. I have oc it with no problems with orig/ heat pipe cooler and fan 702mhz/1800 with no problems. The software optimizer said 692mhz and 17850 I just tweaked a little further to get xxx xfx scores
Running well over 24 hours gpu 62 deg c playing fear with all bell and whistles.

I have to admit I was waiting for a directx10 version to be out this month. If vista had been ready on time I am sure this would be on the cards, I just hope new drivers will be able compensate when dir/x 10 is on line.

just placed my order for the C3D x1900xtx

i cant believe i made the leap, my finger has been hovering over the button all weekend, finally decided to go for it, hopefully i wont be dissapointed, should be a nice leap in performance over my x800gt.

will be upgrading PSU later in the week, but a quick question i have a tagan 420w psu(read that they recommend 450w minimum), i know its a long shot but you think there any chance i'll be able to run it off that until i recive my new PSU.
get payed again on thursday so will be placing my order then for a tagan 580w psu and another gig of ram.

Probably. Those tagans are good and probably more than a match for what other manufacturers release as 450w. I'd be very interested to know for sure though, so please let us know how you get on.

I am truely understand how you felt when you were ordering the card. I was shaken and wet my pants (hmm.. yeah right). Anyway i think we made the right choice for x1900. Btw what resolution are you on your monitor?

it feels like waiting for christmas when i was a wee kiddy all over again.
at the moment i am using a prehistoric(i'm not kidding) 19" CRT, getting 1280x960 max resolution, its not that bad but its only a temporary measure(busted my good monitor a while back now), soon as i get my hardware upgrades sorted i'll be on the market for something better.
i wont be getting the best out of the card on this moniter but hopefully it wont be long till i can sort something out.

If your waiting for your wages to get in the bank which is most likely after midnight I would place your order in the early hours, OcUK update the prices at random times on the thursday, I'm not sure how early though, but if you want to make sure get it done asap! <before thursday morning>

OH MY GFX CARD

I recieve my x1900xt at 1240 today. The package was seal perfectly but then... there a bend at one of the corner of the x1900xt. First i was screaming like H..ELL. how can this happen to me. I just email to OCUK and wait for them to get back to me. It seems like my the old 7800gt does not like the x1900xt much... hehe... how unlucky. Let you all know more. later

That's why I usually check a package for damage first, or sign it unchecked if I don't have the time.

Then CityLink can send it right back.

Is this bending to do with the card on the board...because there are a lot of posts about bending which is due to the heavy HSF pulling it down

It is at Top left corner of the card. It is like a paper which is bend at corner in triangle shape. Btw i do not know how to post a pic nicely... sorry

I get reply from ocuk people that he want to see the picture.. hmmm

btw will this bent make the card defect? or void the warranty in case i keep it.

This has been a hard time deciding to order and now... this bent...

Finally after trying to explain the situation to the ocuk customer support, i will RMA this x1900xt tomorrow. Hopefully i will get the replacement ASAP..

Oh well im not 100% sure. However, it seems that the top right corner of the board is bent and it does not look like the other corner. I will send the x1900xt back tomorrow maybe you can have a look at it once it is there.

I was under the impression all PCBs are flat as they're cut from the same pieces.

That taken a bang and broken the PCB. It's not just bent!

Its definitely damaged, but I dont think there are any traces or anything that would cause it to malfunction in that spot.
