Is this memory any good. Just seems to good a price to be true.

OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-5400C5 Dual Channel Vista Upgrade Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2VU6674GK)

Would it be good for oc'ing, am planning on getting a c2duo 2180. What kind of oc's could i possibly expect? Any ideas?
 
The E2180 has a 10x multi and a 200 MHz FSB. The RAM runs at 333 MHz at stock. If you kept the two linked the RAM wouldn't be pushed past its stock speed until the CPU hit 3.3 GHz.
 
It's fine at its rated speed (667mhz 5-5-5-15), but don't be expecting it to go much further than that.

But, and it's a pretty huge 'but', the E2180 has a x10 multiplier and that memory will stick with it to atleast 3.3ghz, and probably a bit more.

One more question sorry, would i be bets served getting this:

x2 so again i'd have 4gig. What would you go for?
 
I'd go for the OCZ. You'll be able to add more later in the vacant slots and the price is darn close. Since the 2180 uses a relatively high multiplier you can get away with reasonably high 'clocks without needing fast RAM.

There is nothing wrong with this kit, OcUK is just very good at getting deals on memory. Instead of just making crazy margins we pass the savings onto our customers.

The stock is limited, we got 1000pc in order to drive the price so low but within 1 hour of this price going live we'd sold 40 kits, thats simply because were the cheapest in the UK by miles. :)
 
We are not stating there is anything wrong with the RAM just trying to ascertain compatability...as some mobos are a bit...well picky !! ;)

Well this is marketed on compatibility, so it should be pretty much OK in any motherboard. :)
 
Its a reasonable question to ask, if its compatible with a certain motherboard. Its not like OcUK didnt add a note to some DDR sticks saying they worked with AMD or Intel based systems best. Its pretty much a fundamental part of the forums to be able to openly discuss compatibility; much more important than a general discussion forum.

It wastes everyone's time if a known compatibility issue is not known before purchase. Having said that Ive not heard of any specific compatibility problems (granted not been looking), but its nice to hear a positive confirmation of compatibility.

Since its a 2 x 2Gb kit I wouldn't try to compare it to the likes of crucial ballistix 2 x 1Gb ddr2 pair, which is a known good clocker.
 
Just bought some for my Server that will be running a E2180 MO on a P5W64PRO. Won't be overclocked in anyway for 24/7 use but I will have a quick play before it goes live.

Seems a bargain for the price though :)
 
Stuck these in my rig to test them and they are fine, these will be going in a video Editing rig along with a E2180 so 3.3 should be a walk in the park.
