I've got an intake and exhaust fan (not loud mind) but they do cause a bit of a whirr. The Zalman "flower" cpu cooler is fantastically quiet though - my HDD makes more noise than it does!

Post in OC&C. I'm sure they'll quieten it for you. Or CC and they'll mod it for you.

My pair of CM Stackers are way quieter than my old beige boxes. Lots of 1500 RPM fans.

What intake and exhaust fans do you have?

Might be able to get some quieter ones?

If they have restrictive grills on them that can cause a lot of wind noise, which tbh, I find, is usually where most of the noise comes from.

Also of interest: Oiling PC Fans (Dan's Data is an independant review site, not classed as a competitor is it?)

I found that oiling my fans made them a hell of a lot quieter and therefore obviously more efficient.

If they do have restrictive grills (like most cases do) just cut them off, they contribute to the noise quite a bit.

Yeah thats what I meant as long as you feel comfortable hacking your case a little and personally I tend to avoid it if it's part of the outside of the case (it's usually just the internal metal framework thats the problem) cause then it looks ugly... Style > Practicality
