Quick question.

I use my phone as satnav too (with tomtom) but I also want a bluetooth capable unit.

Is it possible to have only any voice calls coming through the speaker? i.e i don't want my CD stopped for tomtom to announce where to go next. My mum's parrot car kit will mute the radio each time the phone makes so much as a peep :(

I wouldn't think so. TT software uses the same protocol to output audio as does the phone when a call is received. Therefore any audio output from the phone will be routed through BT hence muting your radio.

The only "solution" if you can call it that would be to mute TT from making any spoken instuctions, easy enough to turn off within the TT software. You will just have to look at the TT screen a little more often.

Still not got my cradle wired in to use my phone as sat nav (tomtom5), but will go and check to see what it does if no-one else can answer your question :)

I doubt very much you would be able to use both at the same time (bt gps and hands free) because most bluetooth phones (all afaik) can only handle 1 connection at once.

A good point matt100, forgot about that. Your GPS will use a BT connection as will your Parrot hands-free unit and a lot of phones will not accept more than one connection at a time. Some of the newer Nokias support two concurrent connections but then you will still suffer from the problem I described a couple of posts up.

actually most phones do support more than one connection, my current one and last one certainly did. its usually turned off in a menu somewhere to save power however.

I have a Parrot ck3100 and a sony p990i for sat nav, i can use the phone and tomtom at the same time no problems, eg tomtom is running, a call comes in and cuts out the radio, but tomtom still stays running and i can still talk on the phone.

When the tomtom voice commands come up, they dont interrupt the radio.

You see (confession time :p) I know this because I work for one of the largest mobile accessory disties in the uk and I got a sample of a jentro bluetooth gps thingy.

I have a sony ericsson hcb700 in my car and I hooked up the jentro and decided to have it navigate me to the local shops for a test and the whole lot crashed in a horrible mess, car kit, phone and gps.

They started off ok because obviously there isn't a constant stream of data between any of it but the moment the phone asks the gps for info when you're on a call it all falls apart.

To be honest that is a showstopper for me.. from what I see, multipoint (multiple bluetooth connections) is becoming more prevelant in accessories but I've yet to see any handset manufacturers making a big deal of it so you're getting headsets/carkits that can take up to 4 (I think) handsets but not handsets that can take more than 1 accessory at any 1 time.

mmm.. I have a p990 and it just went mental.. still, if you are on a call and you need a new direction at the very least you won't get the instruction because the p990 can only handle 1 connection at once.

Works for me fine tbh mate, i have BT gps,and the parrot kit and it all works in perfect harmony, i used to have problems with my BT earpiece and BT GPS on my old Nokia N70, but the phone was rubbish for any thing BT related :(

Nope tomtom has carried on working whilst i was on the call.

well I'm not going to argue with a fellow ST owner ;) (13.5k and new tyres required btw)

Just suprised.. my p990 went bananas as did my hcb700 anywhere near the jentro sat nav..

Mind you the sat nav was cack anyway, gave me a headache tying to get sense from the screen in comparison to my navman standalone.
