Those of you with OcUK OEM 2700K Official OC Results thread!!

They have a BF3 [email protected] system too but again that begs question what happens if the cpu's fail to reach 4.8ghz? or is it the case that OCUK have found all of the cpu's tested are hitting at least 4.8ghz?

Not a single CPU has failed to hit 4.8GHz yet.

The T-Rex system was at 5GHz but it was failing test, so it was changed back too 4.8GHz, but unknown to myself tech had been looking into it and it turns out the issue was not CPU's, but the mainboard being used in that system. But were finding the CPU's were not the issue.

They have changed the mainboard from Asus P8Z68-V too the Maximus and are now finding that system operates at 5GHz stable. :)

So hence as I said earlier, a good motherboard is critical for frequencies beyond 5GHz and the Maximus is a good choice.

Thanks for the info, I'm just running a more thorough test now at the same settings.

If it remains stable at this I think I will resist going for 5ghz because lets face it a 4.8ghz i7 is mindblowingly fast and on ~1.32v I'm honestly delighted. Either these 2700K's are indeed cherry picked CPU's by Intel or I'm guessing 2600K's will be clocking pretty much the same soon.

So I would like to apologise to Gibbo for all of the skepticism I aimed at him. :p

I'd not come here big upping a batch of CPU's if they were not good, as you'd never trust me again. :)

They are good and as long as you have a good board with good cooling they will/should do 5GHz.
