I would change these 2.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £153.97 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Artic silver is antique and also electrically conductive.
The psu is ATX v3 which the gpu needs.

Also replace that overpriced cooler with a :

£40 from other places.

Is this primarily a gaming build ?

Nothing too crazy with the choices you have made but despite all the publicity I think you would be better getting a 7800X3D for a gaming PC over the 7700.

Cooler. The noctua is good but overpriced. Look for the Thermaltake peerless assassing and save £30.

Artic silver is conductive and whilst it does the job if you are buying new get some MX4 or a more modern paste like Kryonaut.

Once again that PSU is perfectly good but if buiying new I would get an ATX 3 spec pus such as.

or

4070ti is not too power hungry so 750w will be adequate. If you want some leeway then go for the 850w versions. The Corsair Shift PSU has connectors on the side so may not be suitable for that case.

Good SSD.

GPU is on one of the cheaper 4070tis so I agree with the choice

Thanks both. Good spot on the PSU, I thought that was ATX3.0 but it isn't.

I didn't know that about AS5. Thanks.

I need to find the peerless assassin in stock somewhere then.

Yeah gaming and browsing rig. 1440 or UW 1440. I've not decided on the monitor.

I thought about that but not sure the 7800X3D is over £100 better...?

7700 is a good cpu and it is debateable whether the 7800X3D is better on a £/FPS graph but I would go for the X3D if buying from new. Totally your call and the 7700 is still a very good cpu.

I did add it to my basket at one point but didn't expect the extra 5% at 2k res would be worth it.

However, I don't upgrade often. Most often the socket is obsolete by the time I do anyway, so aside from maybe 1 graphics card refresh during the core PCs lifetime it tends to stay how first built/spec'd until it meets the bin a few years down the line.

So for future proofing against modern games perhaps the X3D might give it some more headroom and lifespan? Similar reason I decided to go AM5 instead of 1700.

still at a bit of a premium for me. I would stick with 7700 and lob in a 8800X3D (or whatever it will be called) down the line. Zen 5 might be later this year i have read?

I might also stick with the Nochua. The TR Peerless Assassin performs well but I value low noise.

I have the Peerless Assassin and I have never heard it. It never ramps up the fans and using the silent profile in my motherboards bios the hottest my cpu has ever got is 55 degrees C. The fans are very good, even the RGB versions which I have.

If you want to get the best from the graphics card the 7800X3D is the CPU to get. If you want to future proof the system, then a 7950X is probably the chip to get.
