Hi,

I know there are loads of these, but I'd welcome thoughts on the following build: -

As I said, your thoughts would be appreciated, both good and bad :-)

The processor and motherboard don't match. You either need to pick a i7 1366 processor like the 920 or 930 or get a 1566 motherboard.

If you stick with 1366 you'll want 3x2GB RAM in Tri-channel not 2x2GB in Dual Channel.

Windows Home Premium is generally enough for home use.

Whats the build for m8?

Sorry it's for work and gaming.

The work is both SQL and Oracle database with some coding & report writting. Gaming is COD.

Whoops & Sorry! Obviously added it too the basket with to much haste.

the i7 8 series aren't great value for money. Either save some money and opt for an i5 750/760 (and a socket 1156 board like bsoltan said) which gives similar performance, or go with an i7 920/930 with the motherboard you already have for simliar price but better performance, and 3x2gb ram

I'd go for a i7 920/930. A Gigabyte UD3R is a good alternative to the Asus board, but it's down to preference. Maybe 3x2GB Patriot RAM too. If you went for a 920, I don't think it would cost a lot more than your original build.
