Thoughts on language in games

I've played/completed Tomb Raider and TBH if I was in her situation I'm sure Id be saying **** me a lot or worse, I guess point is the language in games is acceptable as swearing is an everyday life thing, I'm sure I heard the Queen swear also, so if it's good enough for HRH it's good enough for me and my games.. :D

It's not an issue as far as I'm concerned. Disreguarding the fact that she turns into a merciless phycopathic **** by the end of the game, bad language is essential in video games that carry any sort of an adult theme. You need to ground the player in as much of a realistic enviroment as possible and if bad language helps that along then I'm game.

The reality is that little kids play these games regardless of the age label. I'd personally like the current trend of swearing to be reduced.

A lot of it just seems totally unnecessary and forced.

it still suprises me but doesnt bother me when it crops up. LA Noire has a lot of very bad language, f-bombs and c-bombs in several places and that did stick out, only because its so rare.

Bizarre that sex and violence is fine, but a few letters in a certain order causes offence.

To be fair the game is an 18.
And yet in most games now you have constant prompts to press this key or press that key, holding you by the hand and treating the gamer like a child, it's like a tutorial all the way through the entire game world, are gamers that stupid they can't recall what key or button does what action? it might say 18 but it also appears these games are focused on the very young or young minds. Why is there not options to turn off all this nonesense inc an option for profanity on or off, i'm not too fussed about bad language and guns but i can see why many pc games get called dumbed down.

Never been bothered really. Kingpin was one of my fav games and it was full of it.

I think what he's saying is that Lara had never swore in any of her other games so why the new release? I suppose this game is a bit more dark than previous games but does she need to swear??.

When BF3 first launched, there were people complaining about the swearing. There was this one guy who complained on the official forums that he didn't want his young son to learn them words, but it's ok to watch people getting shot in war...

makes sense...
