Ok Guys,

Looking for a few thoughts on my Rig which is more or less getting set-up for the Gauntlet:

MSI P7N SLI Platinum Mainboard
Q6600 SLACR @ 2.4Ghz & Zalman 9700 Nvidia Tritium Cooler
OCZ Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel 2 GB ( 2 x 1 GB ) Memory @ 1066Mhz - 5,4,4,15
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3 (2 off - SLI'd)
Gainward GeForce GTS 250 Green Edition 1024MB GDDR3 (arriving Thursday)
1 x 500Gb Hitachi SATA
2 x 1TB Western Digital SATA
6 x 120mm Fans attached to a Zalman ZM-MFC1 Black Aluminium Fan Controller
Pioneer BD-ROM SATA

Powered by a Cooler Master Real Power 1000w Modular Power Supply

Housed in a Cooler Master Stacker 830 - NVIDIA Edition

All hooked upto a Sony KDL-40W5500 LCD

On a side note..... It comes in handy as a Radiator for the room :)

Gaming......

Not really been doing much gaming lately.

But gonna give the new Batman a go as I got a couple Vouchers with the 260's.

Main use at the mo is Blu-ray's and SETI.

If my MB supported Tri-SLI I would have gone for the extra 260.

But as it doesn't I went for the cheaper 250 to use for Physx (and lower power consumption).

Indeed what Biffa said. Things tend to work best when both GPUs are the same. It may work, it may not.

The rest looks good. I'm not sure how well that Zalman cooler stacks up against the typical tower coolers, but I've no complaints about my (older) Zalman and Q6600.

PS - Please could you use a smaller signature image. Forum rules. ;)

Apologies for the sig.

What do you mean about same GPU's?

I thought that only mattered in SLI?

In my case I will have 2 x GTX260's in SLI with a seperate GTS250 for Physx (or will this not work?)

It might work fine, its just that most of the history of getting multi-gpu's working has been done on Folding@Home not BOINC, so its still a bit of a dark art.

Maybe one of the multi-gpu-in-one-box chappies here will be along with some sage advice.

That should work fine for gaming SLI GTX 260s + GTS 250 for Physx. For F@H you won't be able to use the GTS at all (90% sure) If you can use it, it'll be gimped by the fact it has less shaders than a GTX 260 and will for some strange reason run at about 65% of its potential speed. I'm unsure of how they would all work in Seti.

Thanks for the info......

I only use SETI, so I will try to let you know how the 250 & 260's play together. (Should be tommorrow, as OcUK sent the 250 today) :)
