Its upgrade time! woo

The main goal for this spec is quiet as possible gaming/media and multi-tasking system. Not interested in modding or OCing much to try squeeze numbers out of it - will just use the auto OC feature to push the CPU over 3 Ghz (3.4 or so)

The spec:

I'll use my current XFX 4890, SATA drives for storage, spare DVD writer and 120mm case fans.
So will I be getting best bang for my buck? Will the 600W PSU suffice?

Any thoughts and alternative recommendations appreciated!
Thanks

Yup i'm a web developer, I need some of the features professional and ultimate have that home doesn't like IIS

600w will suffice, but the psu only has two pci-e connectors, so dual crossfire/sli cards is out, unless you use adaptors, and maybe it will need more watts for dual cards.

do you need win ultimate?

Picking the PSU is the bit I hate the most and I got lazy with my research on that.. so any suggestions for others with more adapters and features i'll have a look at

Personally not a fan on OCZ power supplys. Had to many people tell me that they had to RMA one along the line. Power supply is the one part you do not want going on you. Check out Corsair , Seasonic , Coolermaster etc.

And the rest looks pukka mate. :D

I run the 500W version and I'm well pleased with it. The 600W will easily run that configuration with the 4890 and a single 5770/5850. You'll only need the extra connectors if you go crossfire which you don't seem to be about? :)

This is why I hate choosing PSUs! :p so many mixed reviews and horror stories..gives me a headache :o

I don't plan on adding an extra card anytime soon but I would like the option available - maybe as a cheapish upgrade in a year or so.

I've swapped the PSU and CPU cooler for the ones suggested and made a 38p saving! bargin.
Cheers for the advice, i'll have a gander at some more reviews and probably put an order in later!

I can vouch for Corsairs after sales service. not cheap to RMA (to Holland) but I got a higher wattage PSU as a replacement in just over a week. You can track the RMA on their Support Site too.:)
