Thoughts on the X1?

So me and the wife have been looking for a second car, need something a bit bigger than the 1 series, decent sized boot, I wanted to stick with BMW as i just love the brand, i looked at the f30 touring but felt they were a bit too grandaddy at the age of 25!, For some reason i this x1 at the dealer court my attention, now ive driven one of these a few years ago and hated it, was a low spec model with horrendous interior however this one seemed to look so much better than i remember that one being inside and out, the dealer told me it was face lifted in 2012 and interior quality has been improved etc, Its the x drive 23d 204hp model i test drove it and wow its pretty dam quick and rather funky, I don't know if its the color and wheel combo but i really liked it, i spotted another one on my way home, don't think it was the m sport and had different wheels and looked ugly which made me think twice again, kind of confused going to go back and view it again, what do you guy's think? Do you think the spec of the one below compliments the x1? all the ones i remember seeing on the road look awkwardly weird but for some reason this one looked different to me, maybe they look better up close i don't know lol

Good god no. Actually looks like a mobility car, utterly pointless.

Isnt the X1 on a Similar platform to one of the BMW Mini's?

3 series over one of these any day of the week, I mean just look at it, ok It isnt as ugly as the current 1 series, but jeez its still looks pretty crappy. Its not overly practical for a utility vehicle, I really dont see the point of stuff like this and the Audi Q3 TBH.
 
A 3 Series estate is "grandad" but that isn't? Wow.

I can't see the point to these cars at all. They're not going to offer you anything over the 1 Series other than a higher seating position.
 
The X1 is the weakest car in the range now, it is built on the 2004 1 Series platform. It's an old car. Don't spend big money on a nearly new one.

The F30 Touring is a considerably better car in every possible way. The 'grandaddy' comments are illogical, you are buying some sort of diesel estate thing, none of them are going to make you look like you are 18. Get over it and buy the better car.
 
Why does everyone love the X1 so :( There are about 5 brand new ones of these that have appeared in work in the last 6 months or so. Are they very very cheap compared to the rest of the BMW range or something?
 
Felt an okay steer when I drove one but dated and sub par interior. The Q3 from the same segment is a much fresher car and leagues ahead in many aspects, particularly rolling refinement. The x1 was surprisingly noisy.
 
Never been a fan of the 100 series and similiar BMWs granted my only experience with them is hire cars which doesn't really do them justice.
 
An F30 is surely a substantially better car. They are also very cool as a touring.

An X1 is not cool. Nor is it much good.
 
The X1 isn't much (if any) bigger. It's just basically a 1 series that is better at taking a caravan across a field...
 
I personally hate the X1, it's something to do with the lines, the front just looks wrong and the back is just double wrong.
 
X1? No no no no no no no no!

Not BMW's finest hour by a long long way, the F30 on the other hand is superb IMO.

F30 a "Grandad" car? You have lost me there....
