Thoughts on this 370z

Cheers Panthro. I don't expect to keep the thing for 8-9 years. Those £6k 350s are 2004-5. Like I said, I'm not a big fan of the Z4 looks. The convertible is fine, but I'm not looking for a soft top.

Lol Zain. It's always a bit of a worry when you ask about something like this. :D
The 370 interior is a massive improvement on the 350. That's on a par with an Impreza. Oh, and 4wd? You might be thinking of a skyline?

panthro is referring to the newer Z4 (ie the 2nd version released ~2009) which has a folding metal hardtop roof so sort of the best of both worlds. But if you're not a fan of the looks then nevermind :)

Yay, a bit of support! I've booked a test drive this afternoon.

A bit anxious about the previous owner who also has a modified mustang... Apparently this was his daily car, but can't help thinking it might have had a tough start in life. The guy also failed to service it when it reached 9k miles. A full service has since been done and they say the warranty is still valid.

Not really something I would spend £22k on. It's hardly a rare car, I'd wait and get one which has been looked after properly. I've not owned a new car but I imagine the early services are pretty critical. Also, it's not the type of owner/dealer I'd ever buy from.

TBH if as was said get whatever you like! TBH I think for that money you will be able to do better with a 370z that at least has been kept to the service schedule.

My personal feeling is that the car is not significantly different from the later model HR engine 350z. Might as well save 10k and get one of those. Not to mention the 350z to me at least is the better looking car.

I'd still recommend the TT-S, they're well priced recently and yes the 4wd was incorrect was thinking of the GT-R for some reason.

Go for what you want. Although I have a 350z and love it I wouldn't buy a 370z if I had £22k to spend as I think you can get an even better car. I love the 370z, I really do, but I don't love it enough for £22k.

TT-S is a bit dull to drive compared the 370 in my opinion. I'd go for a Porsche probably, or something a bit different (perhaps something American).

I'm in the Porsche camp, on residuals alone a porker will win everyday for the next 20 years. At that money I'd be looking at a Cayman 'S'. Guards Red, over Black would steal it every day.

If you want a 370Z, then get a 370Z but not that one. A missed service at 9k would have me running away, holding my wallet close to my chest.
For me, a missed service at say 30k miles wouldn't be an issue but so early on in the car's life says to me that the previous owner didn't give a stuff about it. Not the sort of owner I want to inherit a car from.

Can I ask why you don't want a convertible? I used to hate rag tops until I bought one, but now I believe it's the only way to properly enjoy a sports car. I'd never buy a coupe now.

How can you consider a 370z over any of those 3 Porsches ?!

Not a huge Porsche fan myself though the 918 is impressive, would almost rather have the 370 but its a bit of an odd car almost like an answer looking for a question, its not a GTR and the 350 does the more casual fun better IMO.

Not a fan purely from the looks of it. Also heard pretty average things about the way it drives in reviews.

I'm beginning to think this is the smart move. My budget was meant to be 18k but I saw this and went a bit silly. The missed first service is quite a worry, and will continue to be for anyone else when it comes to selling time.:(
The garage wouldn't move on the price either.

Thanks for all the help people. I'm not a massive porsche fan, except for the 911. I'd have one of those in a heartbeat if I could afford a decent one.

I think I will continue my search.

How would one go about warrantying these and how much would it cost?

The one that comes from a Porsche dealer will automatically have a 2 year warranty on it, this can be continually extended until a car is over 9 years old or has done more than about 120k.

The cars that currently don't have warranty just need to be taken to a Porsche dealer and go through a 111 point check, officially the 111 point check costs £200 but I've always got it free. Once the car has passed the 111 point check you can buy 1 years warranty for about £800 or 2 years for £1300. Warranty is with the car (not the person) so I actually extended mine by 2 years, sold it with 1 year left (and this was a massive selling point and got me a bit more money).

Once you have a car under warranty you are laughing as you just put it in for a free 111 point check 1 month before the warranty expires and they fix everything for free. It basically means your repairs running cost are £1300 every 2 years.

911's cost slightly more to warranty and the 111 point check does look at if you've put ditchfinders on the car or if someone has cheaped out on crap oil. You can't warranty a car for the first 90 days of ownership (so make it a condition of buying a car that the seller puts it through the 111 point check as it'll be free and will tell you if the car is decent).
