Coming from a 5930K ( i know madness) but PC fancy a change

PC is for Gaming & as silent as possible operation. (one reason for the seasonic PSU
any thoughts/changes you would make?

You could save a lot of money on the PSU and still get an equally quality unit (what GFX are you adding?)

I personally would be adding 3200MHz minimum - as there's a possibility the 3200 LPX kit will hit 3200MHz straight out the box (i've had success with one set and the rest sit at 2933 stable). Even if you didn't with AGESA updates i would hope you would attain the 3200MHz it in the near future. Plus the higher clocked memory tends to hit 2933MHz with relative ease where as some 3000MHz kits struggle (again my own personal experience).

And personally, i would get the 1700 over the 1700X - as it's a simple clock to achieve same results (but that is a purely personal choice).

I would also pick this cooler:

im getting PSU as its rated at below 20DBA, want it as silent as possible. (im using a 1080Ti)
yeh mis click on the RAM,

regarding Overclocking, i wont be Overclocking. so X gives slighty better results.

regarding the cooler ive used that in the past, far to Loud. & over hangs the Ram the Lumi apparently does not

Ah, fair point, have you looked at be quiet range or the BitFenix Whisper series (Totally understand the relative silence search i do similar builds).

But TBH if you can afford the Seasonic it's a solid choice.

Easily done

Makes sense.

Seems like you've done your homework - surprised you found it loud - but these things are relative.

Have you considered the be quiet range (i'm guessing you have :)).

From your responses - you seem good to go. I particularly like your MB choice - i've only used Gigabyte for builds (B350 Gaming 3 predominately) and to date had no issues.

i havent looked at Bitfenix, but as Seasonic make most of the PSU's + 12 year warrenty hard to say no.
i have considered the BeQuiet, but from research its a Pig to Install!
After reviews im debating if to go else where, few people have said their BIOS updates are very hit/Miss

see below updated/old pc.

Never buying Superflower again...

Updated:

this is what im replacing:

in a Fractel design Xl R2 case

No argument there - it's the price of their units that stings compared to other comparable quality products but if cost isn't an issue - go or it.

Depends how you go about fitting them - i balanced the board upside down -with the Dark Pro - and had no problems.

Not experienced this myself (Their updates a regular) - but i think if you research any motherboard with a new format you'll probably get similar hits. Admittedly some more than others

EDIT: What's wrong with the Super Flower?

my superflower 1300W has a very high pitched Buzz with odd tick every so often. yet im only pulling 430W in ECO Mode.

in normal mode its very Loud!

Agreed not acceptable for a unit of that quality/premium, I would RMA - did you pursue this?
no, i just couldn't be bothered.

i think i'm set, will be talking with OCUK to build it soon, £70 so worth it to build it and lob in a 2 year instant swap out. that i got before.

yup @Plec

old picture but here, see more in my man-cave thread :)

Is that a log cabin in the garden/man cave - i've so nearly pulled the trigger on that.

You clearly don't have kids (or they're not allowed in) with a desk that small and over hanging monitors.

The desk is next for the bin... :D

@Plec

Seems you spending too much than you actually need to?

Power supply wise any of these was should do the job you asking while still being cheaper

Get the 1700 instead of the x and while that's a nice motherboard, maybe one of these 2 might suit you also and saving you money?

You can get 16gb quad 3000mhz kits for £120, so no point spending more for the same really?.

I don't know what's gone on since the opening post, but sharing my views as if I had only just seen and immediately clicked 'reply'.

I miss having expendable cash - my kids are like sponges and soak it all up.

Even my den/office isn't sacred - extra chairs have slowly appeared over time :)

HOw are you finding the extra wide screen?

PSU wise, want a slient PSU the 520W might be a little low for a 1080Ti. (but gold prime maybe ok)

not overclocking so X is much better Base clock.
i had the K5 in my list but some reviews have said their BIOS dev keep arguing about the voltages they used ( they was pushing 1.6V through the CPU and said its fine...) they finally gave in. don't seem very... good :(

so you think?

As you're not overclocking the B350 boards would suffice - and the Gigabyte Gaming 3 is well supported. As mentioned previously, i've had no problems since the F6 releases on the boards i've worked on - and the ones i've helped members build.

And as much as i find it hard to recommend Asus because their customer service sucks the big one - the Rog Strix B350-F, which has been released recently is getting very positive reviews - Clicky

But stress - i have no experience with this board or its support - but may be worth a look.

done some minor tweaks, think im going with this:

@Plec no F6 for the Gigabyte K5/K7 that i can see :(
ive seen Msi Bios updates are very well They got some issues
Though ASUS/Gigabyte both have their Beta !.0.06 release out
