Thoughts on this Focus

My brother got a 54 Reg Focus 1.6 Zetec with 14,000 miles two months ago for £7800 if thats any help for an example, ones at the ford dealer down the road were exactly the same and selling for about £9000.

Look, I can do rolleyes too, im sooo clever...

 :p

Its fine for me thanks mate, i dont need any more power than that...

Would anyone mind trying the Broadspeed website for me and trying to get to the page where you enter your details? When i get to that page its just blank and apparently loading but something isnt right and it never loads...HELP

I realise im going to get ripped to pieces because of this, but unfortunately something caught my eye whilst i was on Broadspeed...

The C2 VTS.

Because of their offers, i can get myself a brand spanking new VTS for under 10k. Now this is pretty tempting, because i want something nice and new, with more seats than my current car (Smart ForTwo), with abit of speed and plenty of warranty...

For an extra thousand or so i can go for the Focus Zetec 1.6 3dr from Broadspeed...but tbh this is tempting because ill save a thousand or so pounds and have a nippier little vehicle, but will i be severely cutting the quality of the car? Should i stick with the Focus?

Errr, I would get the Focus hands down. If you want more get a Focus 2.0 or something for a few hundred quid more.

Teehee, yeah, i knew it was a slight change to the Focus...a little mental.

I take it i will be sacrificing quality if i decided on the Citroen? It will be French after all.

It's a lot(!) smaller, not _that_ "nippy". Interior isn't that great, noisy at high speeds, french so make sure your on good terms with your Citroen dealer ;)

Roger that chaps, consider C2 thoughts squashed.

Guess ill just have to keep trying Broadspeed until it works

Treied both IE and FF? Surely another pc you can use to try it on?

What about a Citroen C4 Coupe? You can get a 1.6 16v VTR for £10345 from Broadspeed, or the VTR+ for another £400 with more kit.

IMO its a nicer car to drive than the Focus - the ride is certainly a lot better and the interior is much more pleasant with quality materials and the best fit and finish I've seen on a French car. It feels much more modern than the Focus and is a bit different.

Well i sorted out the Broadspeed problem...router problems. My girlfriend insists on having AOL, and i should have expected that to be the problem. ;)

I now have an email with a phone number, so i give that a call and they will give me dealer details i guess? All sounds to good to be true really!

C4's are something better bought at 4-5 years old for 50pence at the local auction.

Much like the Xsara. Buy a new one? BWAHAHAHA. Buy a used one? Yup, sensible purchasing decision.

CAP projected residuals for the C4 1.6 16v VTR and the Focus 1.6 Ti-VCT Zetec are virtually identical, in fact the C4 is actually worth £90 more at 3 yrs old, but is about a grand cheaper to buy.

The C4 is a far, far better car than the Xsara ever was. The VTS model is no Focus ST, but the normal models beat the Focus on comfort and equipment hands down.

Buying a new C4 is no less sensible than buying a new Focus or Astra.

Dang it.

Gave Broadspeed a call and they wont be able to help me with my part exchange, a ruddy Smart ForTwo - damn me and my impulse moronic buys!

Will have to try and sell it privately, or alternatively might go back to the dealer and try and hammer out a deal on a new Focus...anyone know what sort of margins they work with and what realistic figure i could press for?

Thanks :)

Anyone want to buy a Smart? :p

Repeat after me - Local paper, Auto Trader, eBay.

Back to the Fungus... If the condition of the car is fine then 20k is nicely run in. They're very likely to be motorway miles which are kinder to car than a 4k mile pension/supermarket/whist drive one granny owner car. There's still 2 years warranty left, and are you going to do more than 40k in those two years?
