Thoughts on this spec...

Alright guys

Looking at getting the following as my current PC is starting to show it's signs of age, what are peoples thoughts on this;

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz
Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R Micro ATX Motherboard
OCZ 4GB Kit (2x2GB) 6400 RAM
Gigabyte 8800GT 256mb Graphics

And I plan to use the 2 500GB sata drives i've currently got here.

Now, I think i'm happy with the spec, but as i'm a bit pushed for space i'm looking at the Lian-Li V350B sff case, do you think i'm likely to face any problems with regard to heat issues? I've asked this in the Small form factor forums but doesn't seem to be much life there so I thought someone may be able to shed some light here...?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

what are you looking to use the pc for ?

gfx wise have a look at the PowerColor ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT Extreme 512MB GDDR4 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express).

sff i guess you're going to be limited if you want to overclock cos of the heat issue, but running at stock it should be fine.

I'm using it mainly for 3D work, flash and genera media design. Don't really play games all that much but I do from time to time, so I will take on board what you've said about the graphics card.

One thing I am concerned about is losing a PCI slot on the motherboard...A lot of the graphics cards i'm looking at have big coolers on the and with it being quite a small board do you think i'd lose one of the expansion slots?

Reason I ask is I have an Audigy 2 Platinum card which I wold like to use aswell as my TV card...

Alternatively, what are peoples thoughts on the on-board sound with this particular mobo?:)

with the gfx card i mentioned, its got a zalman style cooler on so can't see any reason you couldnt use the pci slot next to it.

as you mention you don't really play games, i reckon the card will be more than enough for you.

I'm not sure about that mobo in particular but I assume its the same as my DS3, I reckon it's pretty decent for an onboard job myself and I use it!

In addition.. I use a 1900xt in one of my 'puters' and its dual slot cooling, I can still fit a PCI card in below it with no problems. AFAIK the 8800GT is single slot anyways.
