Hey guys. Just wanted opinions on this. Not so much the car but more the deal. I've currently got a 211bhp a4 but the drive is incredibly boring and nowhere near enough grunt.

17 is probably my budget and this is gorgeous and in my price range. Was looking at the new z4 but can't seem to find one that's quick and new shape for under that budget
 
Maybe not a write off, but it's been recorded on the vehicle condition alert register, which means it's been in a relatively expensive accident for the insurance company that fixed it. Walk away.

Also, if you're after a car with a more involving drive, Audi is not the place to be looking, despite the excellent engine in that particular car.

It is a write off, a car only goes on the register if an insurance company writes it off.

Fair enough, consider me learned. I thought any damage warranting a payout from an insurer appeared on VCAR.

Nope - you can smash a car up as badly as you like, if the insurance company repairs it then it is never recorded.

This is why the date and value of the car at the time of the incident is crucial. You can write off a £1500 car with a split bumper, dent in the wing and a cracked light whereas you can do £10k of damage to a £20k car and it'll get repaired.

To write off a 2010 Audi TT-S takes something considerable, unless it was stolen and not recovered until after a payout had been made.

Was going to mention this - you'd have to see exactly what it was registered for and when.
 
So sent off for a car check and got this back

Presumably from what has been said this isnt enough for reassurance. I spoke to the garage and the salesman told me it was involved in a side on collision with door panel damage and was sold to them after having been repaired
Thoughts?

It takes more than a door replacement to write off a 30k+ car.

Would want to see the receipts of said repair as a bare minimum, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole even then tbh.
 
I'd be very wary of a repair out of someone's pocket on a car like this. You must assume that the repair was done as cheaply as possible, and therefore be prepared to likely own what is as close to a shed a TTS can be.

I wouldn't even give it a second thought TBH, knowing how shonkily even non written-off cars can be repaired.
