I recently brought some 'Team Group Xtreem "8Pack Edition" 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C14 3200MHz Quad Channel Kit' with the intention of speeding up my PC - which it has.

I use this particular setup almost exclusively for HVEC encoding raw 4K (2160p 50fps) video files (which is very time consuming), adding the above RAM has decreased encoding time, and I was wondering if I brought another set to up the RAM to 64GB would I see further improvements in encode time? and would a separate 32 GB pack be stable/compatible with my existing one?

For ref. my set up is as follows..

Asus X399-A motherboard
1950X Threadripper OC'd to 4GHz
Noctua NH U14s TR4 with additional push/pull fan
8Pack Edition" 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C14 3200MHz Quad Channel Kit
Samsung 4 TB 860 EVO
EVGA Geforce GTX 1060
EVGA 650 GQ

Thanks in advance,

Seperate kit will work well together.

Are you reaching the capacity of your RAM as it is now. If your not using all 32gb then another 32gb will not speed up your encoding time.

If you are reaching capacity and need to get another kit, Two kits on that CPU may not run at 3200mhz as your limited by the IMC and Infinity fabric within the CPU. Usually with 64gb on that CPU you need to run at 2933-3000mhz to get them fully stable. No issue with the RAM the cpu simply cant handle it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply,

I'm using around 30% of the RAM, the reason I asked was because I went from 2 x 8 GB of RAM (same speed and timings) to 4 and this increased the encoding speed. I presume as I was going from a duel to quad channel kit, I was hoping the same would be applicable going to a 8 channel kit.

Thanks in advance

The CPU has only a quad channel controller..........You cant go from quad to octo channel like that. The CPU is incapable. It will still run in quad with four sticks. Epyc has Octo channel but for you who is encoding the 2990WX with 32 cores would be an exceptional upgrade and with OC almost twice as fast as your current CPU providing you cool it well etc etc....
