Three and Vodafone are merging!

I'll be surprised if its gets blocked, this deal has been on the cards for the last couple of years, feels like a bit of a last gasp for both though - if it doesn't go through I can see Vodafone getting split up and sold off piece by piece.

Less competition, higher prices! Yay.

I wonder how long it will take to find out. Since I've just moved to Smarty, I would like to see speeds increase a bit.

Been with them for quite some time now, £15 a month unlimited everything. My 5G speeds are around 1.2 Gbit so can't complain at all. I wonder this merger will affect it though.

I’ve only ever found EE 4G yo have good signal. 5G anyone is terrible in Manchester and Vodaphone (my work phone) never has as good 4G signal as my personal EE phone. They probably need the merger to compete with EE

Really? Didn't two major Telecom mergers get blocked in the last few years? - can't recall which ones but I know they were both high profile and joined would become the biggest network in the UK. I think the CMA rejected it on grounds of it not being in the benefit of the consumer.

Hmm, not sure how i feel about this.
I've been on 3 for more than a decade, no issues and currently utilising great 5G signal at home.

However, we use Vodafone at work and have no-end of issues with their service both network and customer service.

It was 3 buying out O2. Was blocked because both companies offer the same services with nothing extra, hence reduces competition. BT taking over EE and Virgin merging with O2 was allowed since BT/VM didn't have their own mobile infrastructure and EE/O2 not having broadband.

This one seems similar to 3/O2 so highly likely to be blocked as well. There's also the mess where 3 has a partnership with EE (carried over from T-mobile) for shared infrastructure, and O2 and Vodafone also have an agreement for rural coverage too. Coverage for existing users is going to get a massive shakeup if the merger is allowed and these partnerships/agreements gets terminated.

And then there's the issue of mobile spectrum as well. I'm pretty sure 3's got a big chunk of 5G spectrum so they will be forced to sell some of that after the merger.

Opposite for me, my EE work phone never gets signal not even at HO.

My personal Vodafone gets great signal where ever I have been.
