Three Computer Problems

Right guys, I have had my new build for 2 weeks now, however I am having a few issues. Any that you could suggest a solution to I’d be most appreciative.

1) My computer has started randomly turning itself on during the day/night. I have checked the BIOS and cannot find anything in there telling it to wake.

2) Sometimes when booting the computer does not send a signal to the monitor. The computer is running, but the monitor is stuck on stand-by…

3) The other main problem is that the RAM (GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit) is running at PC2-5300 Single Channel, should this not be different, like dual channel for one?

Again, any assistance on these matters would be excellent.

My spec is:
E6600, P5W DH Deluxe, GeIL 2GB PC6400, GeForce 7950GX2, Seasonic 600w, Seagate Barracuda 320GB HDD.

Thanks, yet again

Is it on a network and is the bios set to wakeup on lan ? Only thing i can think of.
Did you install the mobo drivers ? Might explain no dual channel. Check the memory configuration on the bios also.
Not an Intel man so thats about all i can think of if you need more specific help.

Do you not mean 6400 ? Sound like a bios setting needs changing to sort that out. I'm guessing you need to up the memory speed from 166 to 200, that or change a memory divider, in relation to bus speed of the cpu.
DDR2 667MHz=5300
DDR2 800MHz=6400

i had a similar thing with my old mobo (also asus) check in the bios the ram speed in mhz, i had to change mine from auto to 800mhz and then it came up with the correct speed at start up. also make sure your timings are correct, use cpu-z for that i found mine were 7-7-7-twenty something when they should have been 5-5-5-12, had to set that manualy too. good luck with that, as for the monitor not coming on i have no idea, you using lcd or CRT?

Yeah, I do mean 6400, but it currently runs at 5300 oddly enough. But I will have a look at changing the RAM speed int the BIOS, as I have already corrected the timings.

I am using LCD (Samsung 19" 940BF) connected via DVI from the GeForce 7950GX2.

Still cannot find anything like Wake on Lan. Computer is connected to a network... but there is nothing in the BIOS that I can find. So the computer is still turning itself on...

Sounds to me like a BIOS update could fix all three things- have a look on Asus' website for a newer version as there were/are some compatability problems with the 7950 cards :) Also, if your electricity supply is not particularly smooth then that could be causing the computer to boot randomly :)
