Hi all
I just want to give a piece of advice to those unfortunate as I am with landlines speed connection, I struggle to get out 2.5 mbits/s (about 250-300kb downloading speed in real life) and I end up paying about 25 pounds for this ridiculous service but it is at least unlimited, I am stuck with this since its the best speed available in my area. There is a way however, some time ago I ordered a phone on contract from three network and it came with "all you can eat data" after calling them up like 100 times in disbelief (mind you they have a call centre in india
) I was assured I would not be charged anything at all for internet usage. So I plugged in my phone into my computer and started using it as a modem (tethering) Went into steam and started downloading GTA IV, my peak download rate was (1200kb/s or 1.2mbs) however it does jump up and down, but it stays around 800kb/s mark most of the time. Which was great news for me as it was 3-4 times faster than my land line. Next day I was worried that I would get a nasty call or a hefty bill for downloading around 20gigs, but nothing happened.... So far I have downloaded 40gb in 2 months and nothing happened...
However please do be aware they have a bug in their "usage checker" if you have all you can eat data it shows that you have 1gig to use... But when it drops to 0 you don't get charged anyway.
Do be aware to check coverage, since speeds would wary significantly depending where you live.
Be careful if you order on pay as you go and check if "tethering" is allowed and be sure that the phone you have will be able to handle this speed...
I have iphone 4s, on all you can eat data paying 35 pounds a month, with 2000 minutes, a lot of texts and 5k 3-3 minutes. Which I think is an amazing value.
Thank you, hope this helps some of you.
