Three Peaks Challenge - Did it!!!

Anyone done this before?

I got roped into it by some guys at work. We're doing it tomorrow. The challenge is to climb the 3 highest mountains in Britain in 24hours. Raised about £500 sponsorship money for a children's cancer charity in the North East. We're tackling them in the following order:

Snowdon
Scafell Pike
Ben Nevis

I'm not sure what i've got myself in for.. But if all goes well, this time tomorrow I'll be descending Snowdon. Can anyone offer any advice/tips which might help?

Cheers guys :)

We're set to be climbing Scafell Pike in the middle of the night so i've got a funky LED headtorch for that. You can set it to flashing and everything! It's going to be great wearing it back at university next year !!

I did this in 2000 after I'd finished my Finals. Great day out only let down by masses of driving. Make sure everyone in your car is insured to drive otherwise the poor souls doing the driving will be utterly knackered. It's a shame that the 3 peaks route necessitates you do the tourist routes in order to have enough time to do it comfortably but it's still an amazing challenge. Good luck!

Few people from my did it about 3 years ago. Some managed it ok (guess these were the more sporty ones), and some really struggled. Think all of them finished it though, well one person was minus a toe nail which completly fell off

One of my best mates is doing this tomorrow with people from work - you don't happen to work for Air Products do you?!

Edit: What am I thinking? He's doing the 15 peaks challenge in Wales. Feel free to ignore me. :p

Just how much of the 24hours will be spent driving?

EDIT: just read 10 hours

I was doing Ben Nevis at the weekend and on the way back down there were about 300 people spread throughout various groups all doing the challenge. I think that some were still setting off at 10pm. I wouldn't like to be up there in the dark.

DID IT!!!!

About halfway up we finally caught the sight of the peak of Snowdown... "Why am i doing this?" i kept saying to myself. But i kept my head down

A little while later we were there up at the top. Below is a picture of me with sweaty brow at the top. Along with my friends.. The midges! Incidentally that hat came free with the FHM i bought on the way. Great acquisition!

Lovely view as well :)

good luck with that :)

Next we drove up to Scaffell Pike in the Lakes.

By the time we got there it was 1.30am. Time to get those headtorches on

This one really was a killer. It kept looking like we were at the top but it just goes on forever!! It was hard, but we made it. Headtorch proved a great buy for this one. :)

Limited view with the cloud but thought i'd stick one up anyway.

TBH, I can think of nothing that I'd rather not do - that amount of exertion in 24 hours without a proper break would make me bumsick.

But, I admire you for doing it! :)
