Three random photos from the past couple of days

No filters used for 2...

And i'm not entirely sure what effect you're reffering to! :o

The sky is visible because it was illuminated by city lights... And there is a red cast because I had the WB way off the mark (but couldn't be arsed to change it, because it was ******* it down... In hindsight I liked the effect)

No swearing - read the FAQ.

Ah ok. Yes, it does work well... I haven't ever really played with my wb settings yet... always on auto

Can people tell me what it is they like about no.2 please? Don't get me wrong, I like it - I wouldn't have posted it otherwise, but i'm curious to know why others like it :)
The colours and the composition suit each other just right imo.

Hello hoodmeister.
Firstly can I say that I very much like them :)

Number 1. This works as a very good perspective shot and I like the fact you have turned the roof into the floor. It makes a great Black and white picture and I really like the softness to it. It leads really nicely across the frame.

Number 2. Personally this is a great shot "why ?" Well because it sparks memories of my Hornby rail collection. I had many of this trucks and It was something my dad passed down to me as he was very fond of his railway stuff.

The carriage sits at the end of a rail that backs onto a road (something you dont see everyday)

I also like the highlight reflection in the top right of the cart.

Finally, the colour works really well with the cart. For me, Red is a very deep thoughtful and emotion strong colour. The Red really brings out the boldness of the type that is used on the cart! Which was what originally brought me into this shot.

Number 3
Kiwi is it ? I like what you have done. Not sure about the 1st frame as it for me needs to be lighter (IMO).

If it was lighter, then I would read the entire shot as
(growth/ripe/gone off)

Hope this critic helps :)

It does indeed, so cheers for taking the time to explain yourself :D

Third shot is indeed a Kiwi. My "thinking" behind that was that when I was fiddling with the (colour) image I thought it may look good as a B&W shot. I always use the channel mixer tool for B&W shots, so was checkin to see what information was in each channel. I really liked all the channels, but for different reasons, so I decided it would be interesting to use them all. I think with a little time and effort you could reconstruct a colour image out of that lot! :o
