Three SIM Only Contract Upgrades?

I will be getting my mobile bill tomorrow and been with the for 12 months.

I'm currently on the SIM 300 12 month price plan. It currently says "You can only upgrade if you've been with us for 3 months. You can upgrade by going into a 3Store. Please note that we'll have to complete a credit check before we can process your upgrade."

I was wondering when will I be eligible to upgrade online(and get a new handset)?

Sim only contracts do not come with a free phone?

I'd try calling up, decide the phone you want but say you want your PAC and are thinking of leaving. It seems Three do anything to keep you so you might get a better deal.

You can upgrade to a full contract at any time but they are generally 24 months, and will cost a lot more. My friend did it 3 months into his sim only contract with three.

You can upgrade to a phone contract, but you'll need to do it in store or over the phone, as they'll need to re-credit check you for a phone contract, as opposed to a SIM only. It is a bit ridiculous if one has been with them for a long time, but that's the reason, their systems require a phone-level credit check if only a SIM level one has been carried out.
